You insulting the question about what is good about the caro kann, then being a pedant about "you don't need to know why an opening is good to be good at the opening" was so obnoxious. Get over yourself and just answer the question along the lines of "it's a solid and relatively easy-to-learn opening that has straightforward plans and decent piece development". You knew what the question meant and it is a perfectly valid question for a beginner to ask, not silly at all. People that are potentially interested in an opening might want to know the characteristics of it to get a feel for how it suits their play style before they invest a bunch of time learning it. You'd think someone who is offering a course on the Caro would happily answer such a basic question in good faith rather than being a condescending douche about it for no reason at all.

Bro take into account he gets those kinds of questions 24/7, dont offer any value and he seems to be irritated from the get go. He was also moderating + interacting with trolls on chat and its frustrating, it gets to him, dude doesnt seem to be a dick 24/7 so cutting him some slack might be an idea.

39:01 Interesting thing I’ve learned being very new to chess is that, when faced with a new version of an opening I’ve not yet played or studied, I can oftentimes puzzle out the book/correct move if I think about it. I had one game recently where my opponent did some opening I’ve never seen, i was like “I’m not sure what to do... I guess this knight move is safe, defends blah blah” and it ended up being a book move LOL

As a mere 1000ish rated player I am super hype that I was able to see that rook move in the final game a while before white played it. Granted I was under zero pressure and never could have gotten to that point in the game against Levy, but I will take the small victories. Also despite how it ended, RedPanda should be super proud of that game given the almost 600 point disparity. If you read this RedPanda, good job! and great content Levy! hope you continue to do well.

There are endgames where you can be three pawns down in a opposite coloured bishop endgame and STILL be able to hold the draw, opposite colour bishops are almost always a draw, there’s nothing more too it the only thing you need to learn is how to hold a draw which you can find many endgame practicing websites online which is probably why he’s not wasting his time doing it. Whoever said the London is a bad way to *learn* chess has a point. Beginners who learn a system will often mindlessly play the same few opening moves, because they don't really need to respond to what their opponent does. It's bad if the goal is encouraging players to improve their opening knowledge or positional analysis, since systems consistently lead to similar positions. Learning only systems (especially only one system) won't make someone a great chess player, but learning systems as part of a wider opening repertoire is perfectly fine.

Hey gotham loving the content :) in this video you talk a fair amount about weaknesses in positions and i was wondering if you have a video about how to spot weaknesses better in mind?
