Let's take a moment to grasp Magnus's technique in beating top chess players around the world. As Levy stated, he frequently takes players outside their memorized prep by playing less commonly played/obviously less idea moves. Process that for a moment. Magnus INTENTIONALLY PLAYS INACCURACIES because he is that confident that it will cause his opponent to play a worse inaccuracy, mistake, miss, or blunder that will ultimately pay out in his favor. I can't imagine anyone else who has that much confidence in their middle and end game to commit to what is essentially an unorthodox long term gambit.
