"I wish the internet would realize there is a human being on the other side of that comment" - the sad, dark side of the internet since it's existence. I'm a huge believer in free speech. But can you imagine a GM(or anyone for that manner) walking up to am IM pushing for GM, and to his face, roasting him. He'd either get socked in the face or everyone who witnessed it would make the person having that outburst feel shame. Now it's just the norm to have no manners. I don't watch any of your content except for these GM videos. They are real. They aren't just content. It's a gritty documentary. And it's informative for aspiring players like me. Keep at it man and keep your chin up

I dont get all this idiotic take on the "feeling" of the man, regarding Levy chess skills. People farms him in the same way as he farms other people for views. Who cares. Levy is a grown up man in his 30's with an incredible success in the content business (youtube), he's millionaire, he's married to a woman he loves and has achieved evertything someone can aspire to. People joke on his chess skills?! Who cares! Levy is so unbelievble insecure for a wothless thing : CHESS TITLE AND CHESS SKILLS. I wouldn't have any remorse on hashing him about his chess skills. They're worth NOTHING IRL. He is a great youtuber and thats why he has his great fanbase, loving him or hating him, making all his fortune. He could be a 1000elos and wouldnt change a thing. Why he bothers so much?!
@sporegazm12 сағат бұрын
@xxchxxzero everything you presented is a logically fallacy of many. Appealing to his success or appealing to what he may or may not do to others, is one form of a logically fallacy that doesn't address nor justify or explain my original comment. If someone with down syndrome lands a hot girlfriend and wins the lottery...but is trying to become a lawyer...that still would be acceptable to walk up to his face and make fun of his struggles? Sure...I have the freedom to do so. And I might even be right. But does that make it well mannered or okay? Again...if anybody acted like this say, in the 60's the person having the ill mannered and rude outburst would be shamed to hiding or socked in the face. All your appeals to his success or authority or previous actions are just classic logical fallacies. You can't excuse rude behavior based on such things.

Now granted the life he got with his work (the content creation! not the chess), he can play for reaching the achievemnt of GM. Of course they know it better, that's why they are the Top player. I still remember when the Eugene chess club Pres Don Peterson told me, "You're creative like Alekhine." Over three decades ago hehe. Think about the monstrous amount of hours Levy dedicated about making videos and content (i think he made 12 hours a day EVERYDAY for the first 2 years fo his carreer!!!). That's the true achivement of his life!! Yeah, people make fun of his tournment perfomances....uuuh.... Who cares. Really Levy should grow up on this aspect....

Hey Levy, long time lurker, I'm respect your journey so much, like legitimately, as it would be an incredible achievement and we forget sometimes given how accessible to top chess players are, but it would be amazing to see you get there. Keep up the work! you've got it in you to go on and crush it and lots of good wills going your way from the community

Totally justified. Hikaru is a little tone deaf to you sometimes.

Dear Levy (GothamChess), I'm writing this letter to express my sincere gratitude for the incredible work you do on KZbin. I stumbled across your channel a while ago, and it's safe to say it completely changed my perspective on chess. Before finding your videos, I knew the basic rules of chess, but I never truly understood the depth and beauty of the game. Your engaging commentary, clear explanations, and infectious enthusiasm made learning so much fun. From basic tactics like forks and pins to more complex strategies and opening principles, I've absorbed so much knowledge from your content. I especially appreciate how you cater to players of all levels. Whether it's a beginner-friendly video explaining the fundamentals or a high-level game analysis, there's always something valuable to take away. Your "Guess the Elo" series is particularly entertaining and has helped me develop my pattern recognition skills. Thanks to your channel, I've not only improved my chess skills significantly but also developed a genuine love for the game. I now find myself eagerly analyzing games, studying openings, and even playing online regularly. Chess has become a true passion of mine, and I owe a large part of that to you. Thank you for being such an inspiring and effective chess teacher. You've created a fantastic community, and your dedication to making chess accessible to everyone is truly commendable. Keep up the amazing work! keep pushing towards the title we are fully behind your back levy.

The crazy thing about competitive in-person chess is that in each game you are facing not one opponent, but in reality at least four opponents at once. The opposite player, the clock, your physical environment and yourself (in terms of your own internal thoughts and emotions). The way these four (or more) opponents interact with each other throughout the game creates a fluctuating meta-level-framework that plays a big role in determining the game's final result. While you are playing competitive chess you are like Hercules fighting the Lernaean Hydra. It is a great art to be able to constantly find a way to minimize these four (or more) opponents throughout a contest.

Levi u r the person who made me start playing chess again after i stopped for few yrs. I rediscovered my passion for chess because of u. And u deserve to be a GM and ik u can and so do many like me. It's not easy but we all know u can do it. I wish u the very best and i would love to see u as a GM.

That's why you have more followers than Hikaru. Easy as that. On one side you are funny, entertaining, etc, but you are also very decent and honest and don't put others down, even when it would be easy. This was especially obvious in the Hans-Magnus-Hikaru episode, the jeans-fide nonsense, on Kramnik and so on. Hikaru chooses a very different side, and that's why I am hardly watching him anymore. There is still this thing, much bigger and harder than becoming a GM, becoming a GH, a grand human, and you are on an amazing road for that for sure. All the best!

Hey Levy, I left this comment on the video of you covering your game yesterday. Thought I'd post it again since it's all the more important hearing the ending to your video. It's so, so easy to sit behind a screen and look at the analysis bar and say stuff like "how could I miss that" or "I'm not good enough" but you have it in you man. My words probably dont mean much since I'm a 1700~ but I also get horrible anxiety while playing and I play ONLINE mostly (don't even get me started with over the board 😭) You obviously have the technical skill Levy, but the human brain is a double edged sword. I'm not going to give any advice since I haven't even figured it out yet, but if I was you I wouldn't be pushing myself to "play better." Like you can always try to memorize more openings, study more theory, etc etc. But I think your biggest hurdle is the mental stuff. I really don't know how you even deal with some of the things people say. I'm not envious of you at all. People you thought were friends saying you'll never make it to GM, you're too old for it, whatever. Genuinely snake behavior. (Edit for this video: this is the part I'm reposting for. Hikaru feels so slimy to me. I really do not like the guy. I won't get too much into it.) But you got it man. Be patient with yourself and try your best and you'll make it. Anyways, good luck. I bought your book for my fiancee to get better at chess. She's liking it a lot, and it's good bonding. Be safe man.

Where's the guy that was roasting 2700+ players like Ding? Even when you were invited to a TV channel after the world championship you handled the question about Ding's last blunder so non diplomatically. A media guy like you should have tried to explain a player's psychology to the broader audience better instead of going "ikr? what a weird blunder."

Levy, thanks to you I've started enjoying the game of chess. You amaze me with your genuine effort and love of the game. I know our experiences are completely different, but you've helped me not beat myself up so much when I blunder mate in 1. I've struggled my whole life in caring too much about what people think of me, and you're right, being human sucks. I make so many mistakes in every facet of my life that it gets really depressing some days. I know I'm just a username on a website, but I love watching you perform and I never thought it would hurt me to see you trip, but it does. You're awesome Levy! I hope you know that you can do this!

I hope you can filter the negative thought in YOUR head and realize - it's just life bro. It gets ridic sometimes...Just keep pushing forward and do the best you can. Invest in the process-not the outcome...that goes for your mental state of being as well brother.
