You can say it's just Magnus effect but honestly to find all the tricky moves to make completely lost position into a win vs a GM being down 30 seconds to 4minutes is just beyond insanity
@ThirdLife86 Жыл бұрын
But not due to Magnus being so ingenious more to the other dude blundering his position away with 3:30 more time. Against Magnus you only win by making very few to no mistakes and playing consistently good moves.
@lift_your_dreams Жыл бұрын
@@ThirdLife86 i got your point, Magnus made some mistakes in the game that was not ingenious, but his ability to out calculate a Grandmaster having 4 times less time was. Also you could argue Magnus has never won because of him being brilliant, just his oponents made mistake and miscalculated at some point and he took advantage, cause chess played with no mistakes is just a draw 🤷

The latin word "Magnus" also evolved into the French word "Magne" as in "Charlemagne" which in Latin is "Carolus Magnus" Carolus > "Charles" in English and "Karl" in German. So the name "Magnus Carlson" is almost a sort of play on son of Charlemagne with some words swapped round.

I find it admirable that Levi manages to keep his commentary on matches balanced between being objective and colored through his own opinions, considering how the fame that has come to him and his channel has brought many eyes to him; comparable to that of a mainstream media outlet, making him a ‘centerpiece’ of the chess community,(pun intended) and how his influence has a major impact on people’s opinions especially to those who are new to the chess community and are quite impressionable.

Gotham should make a tutorial on how to beat Li, the 2000 rated bot, just like he did with nelson, because im 840 rapid and she beats me really easily and also beats my 1360 rated friend, but i beat the 1800 rated bot Wally, so i think the skill gap between Wally and Li is really large so it would help a lot of us out
@Luke-so4hv Жыл бұрын
I feel like every bot feels like a massive step up when you beat the previous bot. Nelson was doing me in for a while, When I finally beat him, the 1500 bot then became impossible. Its a bit of an adjustment period, however I agree a video on it would be good.
@lillemy5062 Жыл бұрын
The skill gap between them is huge. You can beat wally easily with dubious openings like the halloween gambit, Li however requires solid play. I've gotten a winning position against her with the Sicilian Defence, but a rushed pawn move in the end game ruined it. KID works too but incredibly spicy against 2k rated.

@anythingpeteives Жыл бұрын
In the last game when Magnus was down to a bishop and the white rook was on b5 I think Rb4 would have been stronger. It ties all Black's pieces to the queen's side. If black tries to push the a pawn, white plays c4, cutting off the bishop and allowing Ra4 next move. So black needs to defend the pawn with the bishop and also forces the black king to protect the b pawn. That leaves white with 3 pawns and a king against 1 pawn on the king's side. So black needs to use 3 tempi to protect everything before it can free up the bishop whilst white is advancing on that isolated black pawn on f6.

Magnus: I'm here just for fun Last game: ok time to play
When Stockfish is a good idea if there was better moves, when I use it post game in my 700 it is assuming my opponent plays massively differently, The Ai upset I refused to trade queens, both in starting position, I later got their queen for free when they hung it. Trading really is pointless below 1k because ignored pins happen all the time. So long you keep pressure you can exploit mistakes. Even if in higher Elos it wouldn't work.
