I love that first game, it reminds of how many times ben finegold explains that aronian is like an unstoppable force. He's always saying how it sucks to play aronian because even if you are better than him, he always plays the first 20 moves instantly, and if he doesn't it's because you're losing and he's calculating a win. The psychological aspect is big, after 20 moves of instant prep it's like, even if there isn't a time advantage how do you play a guy that just knows everything already, you have to like know something he doesn't or discover something mid game. Then you have magnus, who is basically aronians brain with hikarus skill. Magnus knows it all already and he's better lol.

Just insane play, I don’t even know how I’d feel if my opponent just blitzed most moves at such a tournament.
@ironeagle42742 жыл бұрын
Magnus does lose from time to time, but he has an incredible average performance level in tournaments. In fact, the reason why Magnus Carlsen is a legendary chess player pertains to the fact that he dominates the performance charts/rankings of all types including move accuracy, win percentage, elo, etc.
@AngelNearDestruction2 жыл бұрын
@@ironeagle4274 what makes him special is that he isn't just a chess genius like Murphy and Fischer, he also has an eidetic memory. His memory isn't perfect, but his eidetic memory allows him to spend less time prepping individual positions and allows him not to repeat mistakes often. While magnus has repeated mistakes before, particularly in time trouble and in faster time formats, once he makes a mistake and figures out why it's a mistake he will almost never forget that position or analysis. Magnus is the closest thing you can get to Leela Alpha and other learning CPUs in a human. If he was just a genius he wouldn't be any better than Hikaru, and if he just had his memory he could likely be a lower level GM but likely wouldn't have even bothered. But since he has both he excels. His eidetic memory isn't as accurate as when he was a child but his ability to understand and retain information that is seemingly trivial is mindboggling.

Hi Levy! This will be a longer one, but I wanted to let you know. I've never been interested in chess, but on a whim I decided to see figure out how to actually play the game. Your 10 minute chess openings showed me a whole new world of chess and I got hooked on your humor and information in a game I've never considered besides as a sore spot for something I was truly terrible at. My daughter would try to grab the chess pieces off the screen when we'd watch you at nap time and I've watched nearly every video you've uploaded since. This was a year and a half ago. I'm now trying to teach my son chess, but I'm horrible at retaining information so I STILL only barely know how to play, though my husband is now worse than I am. So I just bought your beginner and intermediate courses (using code "twenty" I'm glad that's still up.) All this to say, thank you for enriching my life so much and showing me a great way to bond with my 7 year old and enjoy that time with him. You're the GOAT.
