This is easily my favorite video series you make, even over the excellent recaps. I found you because of a combination of Queen's Gambit, Agadamator's channel and the youtube algorithm last year and never looked back, but hadn't actually moved a chess piece in close to 20 years. @@randombanana640 As someone who grew up with the Raimi Trilogy and has a special nostalgic place in my heart for those movies (well, except for the third one, sort of, because it was pretty cringey), that stung a little, but I have to admit, there was some cringe in the first two as well. I actually do think that that fight scene between Spidey and Gobby at the end of the first one is one of my favorite superhero movie fight scenes because of how brutal and intense it was, and watching it for the first time, I actually wondered if Spidey might actually die (I think I was around like 4 years old at the time).

Levy, we 800s know about discovered attacks (amongst many other things). In game 1, you can see him plan it out. It looked like one of my average games where once I make it to an end game it's on lock. It's much easier to puzzle out. We suck so bad because we lose track of what we had planned (if any) when almost all the pieces are still on the board. There's too much to worry about, so we get tunnel visioned. But when we are up two minor pieces, we close. 800 means we understand the game, but don't have the wisdom or experience to follow through with what we want to do. You always act like when an 800 does well that it is somehow miraculous, but that's just how 800s play, we suck until we don't, or we play great until we don't because we are trying to implement things we have recently learned.

Game 3: Hey, lots of us 800-900s can pull one of these out; we’re just inconsistent. And we suck at blitz. (I just crossed 900 rapid but I’m stuck at 550 in blitz, and when I try and play 3/0 I’m more like 250.) Also sometimes we play while also watching tv, and drinking wine.
