The reason at 20:44 that taking the pawn is a draw is now black plays Bb5 and covers three of White's pawns with the bishop, which frees up the king to go cover the h-pawn. Of course Black expected the pawn to be taken, and therefore premoved Bb5 and instalost

@@enpeyarblank Welcome back everyone! Today, I’ll be sharing this wonderful soup recipe my grandmother used to make. My sister and I would fight over who would get to lick the pot after we finished it all! First, add 20 liters of bleach to a plastic bucket and set it on the stove at medium heat. Let it simmer for 5. Serve ice cold for best results. Hope you enjoy this as much I used to!

@@danispringer You should try it if theres one near you. I played my first a few months ago. It was an absolute disaster and I went 0 and 5, but it was a lot of fun. It's a very different experience of the game. I feel like its a better test of my skill as a player than playing online, when Im sitting there and theres nothing but me, my opponent, and the board. And then afterwards being able to discuss the games and talk with the others about how everyone's round went. It's a good afternoon.

7:20 Okay yeah I think there was an easier way to guess that one than the opening choice. Because I'm 1300 and I've definitely seen some absolutely jank openings, but I don't think anyone my level is getting their queen hit by Nc6 and playing Qc3 allowing Bb4 pinning and winning the queen, because that's one of those patterns we already lost like a dozen games to when we were rated under 1100. Like not just the general concept but that exact setup of Nc6 and Bb4. Maybe not always the queen, maybe sometimes it's a rook or a knight we lose on that square, but that specific geometry is just too damn common in the opening. Similarly we tend to be hyper aware that if we've moved the F pawn as white and not castled we gotta be watching for Qh4 because again, we've already lost dozens of games to that before we got here.

25:00 My advice for openings below 2000 is play absolute jank as white or maybe the Scotch (solid, but not popular). As black, just look for any gambits with an early f5. Schliemann ruy, I forget what it's called in the italian, etc. Is it optimal? Not in terms of being the best moves, but it's pretty optimal in terms of getting you fun, playable games without spending hours a day studying opening theory hardly anyone actually knows below 2000

I’m sorry but I’m 1500 and know that line. It’s like the first ever line you learn. I was playing a 9 year old 1100 in an OtB game and assumed that they’d know no theory. They played d3 instead of d4 in the line and then played Re4. I played g5 and they calmly played Bxg5 and Qf5 doesn’t work because of the pawn being on d3. I just resigned in shame. So don’t underestimate anyone and just play the position
