I find that a common pattern in games where Levy has a better position but loses, is that he keeps trying to further improve the position. Maintaining tension when the opponent plays a blatantly bad move that can be punished immediately is not worth it. The opponent gets to convert their shit move into a good one, they get tempo. So Levy will lose to dumb tactics and gambits because he refuses to enter a gambit or tactic that's losing for the opponent anyway. Like that bishop move, he got an opportunity to trade the passive bishop and set up a fork that'd lead to a potential 2nd fork and weaken the opponent's queen side allowing infiltration by his queen.

Hate to say it, but he never will be. Even if the top 100 players quit playing and forfiet their ratings and he still couldn't be GM. I REALLY want him to become GM.

What are your tips for a 400 like me
@CFT3DКүн бұрын
To quote Levy "learn how the pieces move". For real though, opening principles (knights before bishops, don't move a piece twice, castle), the checklist (checks, captures, attacks) and try not to hang your queen
@michaelmassaro4375Күн бұрын
Do a lot of chess puzzles it will help you to improve your tactics many of the chess puzzles replicate what happens in games . Usually you will get an idea of what the puzzles wants you do as they repeat themselves a lot . Not hanging pieces avoiding forks and activating as many pieces as you can don’t get stuck on moving just one piece . And king safety castling is important .
@NineteenEighty8Күн бұрын
Puzzles. And learn the openings.
@CFT3DКүн бұрын
@@NineteenEighty8 at 400 you don't need to bother with learning any openings. It's not gonna help you while taking up a disproportionate amount of your time
