I travel a lot and the one thing I think we do as a disservice to the areas we travel by calling it cheap to travel. I have stopped saying that and refer to it as economical, affordable and cost effective which Bulgaria is, I love Bulgaria and I have been all over. Enjoy

Yes let's not encourage inflation in Bulgaria please. Inflation has already hit Bulgaria hard over the last few years, it will likely go up a lot next year due to minimum wage increase and hospitality tax increase. Let's keep as low as possible thanks

It's cheap for foreigners, and those are the tourist prices. Most Bulgarians will not pay those prices. I agree, calling it cheap does disservice.

Just got back from 2 weeks holidays in Sozopol, Nessebar and Sunny Beach and watching this fills my eyes with tears, almost :) I love those places and spend my holidays on them almost always. Sozopol is almost like Nessebar but a bit smaller. It's old town is as beautiful and lovely as the Old Nessebar is. I'm a Bulgarian and when we're there we beach at a little bit distant beaches like Gradina (Garden beach) cuz it's much larger and sparsely occupied than the two beaches of Sozopol. Obviously this requires you to have a car. When we stay in the Old Nessebar we beach at Sunny Beach. And Sunny passed it's party high times, now it's halve the party hype as it used to be few years back. Still, it's full and vibrant place for fun and holidays, and it's beach has second to none in Bulgaria - so wide, so stretched, and so finer sand. Golden Sands which is another Sunny-like resort on the northern side of the coastline matches it but it's quite smaller and more family oriented than Sunny Beach.

Feta, literally translated from Greek, means white cheese. During communism, we could not export it to the west, so we sold it to the Greeks. They then changed the name and sold it as their product. They never had real white cheese, but because of their great marketing and publicity in England, it's now thought of as a Greek product.

In Toronto , a traveller rang my doorbell and took me that he could fix my driveway. So I asked him if was a traveller his response was I’m Irish love. So why don’t you have a card. Beware of people coming up to you. It looks like a lovely place.

It's actually not feta cheese. If you have been to the Balkans you should know better. We are so used to foreigners calling it feta ( because that is all they know ) so we can't be bothered anymore, but still annoying.
@BGSoccerMagic2 ай бұрын
Lets' get few things straight with the food First it is Banitsa, not Burek! Burek is the Turskish or non-Bulgarian word for that kind of food, Banitsa is the Bulgarian! I bet you wouldn't be happy if I came to visit Ireland and I used the words that the English gave to the food that is native to Ireland! And second it is not "Fetta cheese" feta is the crappy "wanna be real Balkan" cheese that the Greeks make, you are eating a banitsa slice with Bulgarian cheese which is why it was tasting so gorgeous, the Greeks have no good tradition in making the cheese they despised the manual labor being all philosophers, traders and such, so they left it to the "barbarians", because in those days in order to get the milk for the cheese one had to sit behind the sheep's stinking ass while milking it and having the butthole up their nose, no Greek philosopher was ever gonna do that.

Didn’t see any. We were on a family holiday. Also, your comment could be applied to a lot of holiday destinations in Europe. Infact in Spain and Portugal we get asked on a daily basis to buy them. Didn’t happen once in Bulgaria. I appreciate your view and not denying it doesn’t happen but fair is fair. It’s not the only place with this problem.
