Playing on a sprained ankle and just quietly doing his thing without the fan fair. 53 points in 33 playoff games career. 4th fastest player in NHL history to 50 playoff points behind Gretzky Barry Perderson and Lemieux. Brand new record for most assists in a period in the playoffs. Draisaitl deserves just as much praise as McDavid this playoffs.

Congrats to the Oilers for eliminating the Flames in Game 5 and moving on the next round! It's only fitting that McDavid scores the series winner to send Calgary home and send Edmonton on to the next round to meet either Colorado or St. Louis. I'll admit I expect Colorado to still beat St. Louis but I certainly thought that series would be over before this one! I didn't expect Edmonton to come out swinging and take down Calgary in 5. No he didn’t. Oilers had more high danger scoring chances in every game but the first. You see, trying to blame it all on one person is a way of denying the better team won, but that’s really what happened. The Flames did fine in the regular season, but that’s not playoff hockey where if you have another gear you use it. The Flames didn’t have one and the Oilers had two.

so many people missing this play. Just a little grit from Johnny there and that goal doesn't happen. He just had no interest in getting his hands dirty. You can't win in the playoffs like that. McDavid had the most hits out of any Oiler in a few games so far in the playoffs. Gotta do what it takes.

The key to the Oilers success is that they’re playing more like a true team now, with contributions from players like Kane, Hyman, Yamamoto, Bouchard, and Keith. McDavid is undoubtedly an excellent player, but they’ve gotten to this point with invaluable help from the other key players.

McDavid has to be the best hockey player of all-time. Gretzky had the vision, but McDavid has all-around skill. If McDavid played during the 80s, he'd have 250 point seasons. And, no, I'm not an Oilers fan

Yup, the way he bounces off a check and not scared to throw one himself, while possessing that blazing speed…..best combo. Gretzky, while still the GOAT, at 5”11, 160……needed Semenko & McSorley to enforce. You saw how much his numbers dropped off at 33 or so after one bad hit into the boards. But almost 3,000 points…..F-k me no one will ever come close, and I doubt Connor gets as many points as Gretzky had assists

Calgary what the heck was that? You score 9 goals in game 1 and then drop 4 straight? Another fairly early exit for a team who should’ve been a cup candidate. Keep this up and you’ll develop a reputation almost as bad as Toronto.

To be fair, flames should've won this game if it wasn't for that totally biased unallowed goal. In the same vain, Edmonton would've still probably won the battle of Alberta, it's just that call was so stupid

the number one priority against Edmonton is to avoid giving McDavid room to maneuver the more he can move, the more he can orchestrate a chance to score
