Thank you. It is great to work with your club/community on content for the channel. I cannot wait for the next episode as I think the discussion with Ahmed is going to benefit many of the viewers.

Thanks for this video, cant wait for more ! And dont worry your explication at the end was very clear ( with the offspring off a Split to Split pairs ) ! It seems really hard to establish a pure Line. I think i got one pure pairs of BH-WB-GB, but other than that all my birds have "hidden" genes :(

Thanks for the feedback. Pure classics or normals can be a challenge these days. So many hidden mutations....

Just discovered your channel today. I used to breed Gouldians several years ago with medium success. Learning a lot! I particularly enjoy the lesson on bird show conformation. Don’t like the flat headed birds or “snakey” bodies either. Two questions, why are some of the previous cages have lights and others don’t? I had a light over every cage. Maybe that’s too much? Lastly, what are your thoughts on a blue backed white breasted bird? I was told it’s not good to have two mutations in one bird. The black headed, white breasted blue is my favorite.

Hi. The lights I was in the process of doing but decided to switch to a different cage type. You will see the new cages in the latest video.

In terms of the white breasted blue is it also my favourite of the blue variants. You can mix the two but blue is weak gene so you must not breed blue to blue only blue to split or split to split. The reason why they cautioned you away from white breast onto of blue is that mutations tend to have been inbred when first established and as a result two mutations can sometimes produce birds that are weaker.

@@thehouseofgouldians Thanks Clyde, i like how the new cages show off the birds so much better.

@@thehouseofgouldians I agree. I was warned not to pair two blues together, only splits or one blue parent to a split. What about a double factored yellow cock bird to a yellow hen. Is that a fatal combination still?

Yellow SF or DF to a yellow hen is perfectly fine in terms of the normal European yellow. I cannot comment on the Australian yellow as I have not got enough information on that mutation.

Hey from Denmark When you say diloute, do you also have pastel ? I have a Green diloute male and a Blue female they had an all white chick and The rest chicks had 5 different colors..
@thehouseofgouldians2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jan. Yes the dilute is a single factor yellow so if also split for blue it will give you the results you refer to when paired to a blue. What we call a pastel is a blue cock bird with a single factor of yellow and a purple chest.

so blue birds with a white breast would b best. as you can test for the two genes or the sibling from that bird will be split to both. i have a split to both hen and i now no my male is not twelve chicks last season and six just fledged end of this all puple green backs pos splits. chicks from them had w breast blue body my friend has them good for people to know. keep up the good work👌👍 thanks

Yes Ashley you right you could test for both at the same time.
