Wonderful show sir,I have a problem with mosquitoes in my aviary, I'm into east London ,eastern cape, the mosquitoes are biting the gouldian chicks once the parents don't sleep in the nest, any advice would be appreciated

Hi Wayne Sorry for the late reply. That's a difficult one. Citronella repeals mosquitoes but the oils burnt in the air would NOT be great for the health of the birds. You could look at planting lavender and marigolds on the outside of the aviary as natural bug repelants.

Let me ask others if they have a solution. I breed indoors and don't really have an issue with mosquitoes. Will come back to you.

@@thehouseofgouldians Hi I made up some mesh cylinders and ive hung sticky fly ribbons in and it's working very well for the mosquitos

Hello , i am breeding gouldians right now, by fostering the eggs under different society finch pairs..all the eggs are hatching but all of them are unfortunately dying..i could not find a cause..do you have some suggestions

Hi. The first thing I would do is treat the society finches for coccidia. If the chicks are still dying it could be that your society finches are carry a pathogen that does not affect them but is killing the gouldians.

@@thehouseofgouldians thanks a lot for replying, would research more on the basis of the points you made...i talked about breeding gouldians a few months ago with you in facebook and you tube, also about some different mutations..now that the birds are bonded and are producing fertile eggs...but this new problem arises... would love to gain experience in gouldians and successfully raise them in the near future..thanks for sharing your knowledge and progress with everyone..
