I love the pantina on my Lamy 2000, so I am going to enjoy it as it ages, just like me.

What about trying to get it back to the regular 'shine'? After I put mine in a brand new leather sleeve, my Lamy got 'dull'. Thinking it absorb the loose leather particulars of the sleeve.

Rub it with hands full of oily hand cream. Thats what I did.

Thanks, Brian for the neat trick! Fyi, this worked really well for my Faber Castell Ambition black resin, whose surface texture is identical to Lamy 2000 macrolon.

I got superglue on my Lamy 2000 and I don’t know how to remove it 😭 I’ve read that acetone is harsh on makrolon.

Looking online, a safer solvent is nitromethane that can usually be found at specialty hobby stores. Might go that route to help remove it? - Colin

I found some bad match between the cap and the body finish in my brushed Lamy Studio Steel. Fixed it all up with a similar pad from 3M. Almost look like a brushed Led Zeppelin! ;)

Hello Brian, thanks for informative videos you publish about fountain pens and stationery. I watch your videos with admiration :) Can you list some of the best dry-writers, that could write on cheap papers without draining too much ink, thus, not writing on backside of the paper, even with low quality inks. Any answer or video would be greatly appreciated . Many thanks, keep up the good work!

The Platinum Preppy EF (www.gouletpens.com/platinum-preppy-fountain-pens/c/280/?sortBy=productName+asc&facetValueFilter=Tenant~Nib_Size%3Aextra_fine) is definitely the best affordable option for this. It leaves a very fine line that writes really dry. Even on the cheapest paper, you hardly have any ghosting. - Colin

Thanks a lot for help Colin. Im going to go with the fine nib. If I like the pen, I definitely will buy the extra-fine one too :) Have a good day

Hey Goulet Pens, I don’t know if you’ll ever see this comment but does this happen to the fully steel Lamy 2000? I have a lamy 2000 in makrolon. The brushed finish is totally removed from the part where I grip it. I’m wondering if the steel is too tough for my hands to be able to remove the brushed lines.

As with all brush finishes, polish with Brillo sparingly, but it will do the trick. Like vintage Rolex, don't take out too much material, until it becomes significantly lighter in weight, low resell value.

I dirtied the makrolon with BOSTIK super glue. A disaster! I fell into depression. Later I tried to use the green yellow sponge for cleaning pans and dishes from VILEDA. I went hard, wetting the sponge every now and then, without using soap or solvents. Result: the pen is like new again! No sign of scrubbing..😊

Thank you for the helpful video. The same thing is happening to my Lamy 2000, right at the part where the pen rests against my thumb-first finger joint. What about using a micro-abrasive sponge? These are available on Amazon under the name "Magic Eraser" or "Eraser Sponge." These work wonders at removing stains without water. I'm extra concerned because I have the blue, limited edition Lamy.

Liz Steel (an urban sketcher) really likes the Lamy Joy (www.gouletpens.com/lamy-joy/c/156) because of the stub nib. I think any stub nib is a good option for drawing because of the line variation it offers. - Colin
