Wunderschöne Aufführung dieser romantischen und fein komponierten Ballettsuite mit seidigen Tönen aller Streicher, milden Tönen aller Holzbläser und vor allem brillanten Tönen aller Blechbläser. Der intelligente und geniale Dirigent leitet das perfekt trainierte Orchester im veränderlichen Tempo und mit effektiver Dynamik. Einfach faszinierend!

Another recording that uses the Walpurgis Night scene is the 1966 Decca/London set with Corelli, Sutherland, Ghiaurov and Bonynge on the podium.

The whole Walpurgisnacht music (orchestral and vocal) can be found in the excellent, complete Victoria de los Angeles recording. There is also a short entr'acte leading to the Prison Scene. All in Act V under "Faust" Orchestre de l'Opéra de Paris André Cluytens o KZbin. Boito also has a good version of this scene in "Mefistofele" which contrasts with the Ancient Greek scene in which Faust becomes enamoured of Helen of Troy and I played a Triton-like god.

This "Walpurgis Night" ballet suite from Gounod's opera FAUST is seldom heard in the opera house.

Thank you but is there some singing in this scene as well as the ballet? There was some doubt as to whether Gounod composed the lovely ballet. I think this was cleared up and he is now declared as the composer. If only they would perform the dialogue version of the opera as English National Opera did many years ago. That would also leave room for the extra arias e. g. for Siébel, and Marguérite ( another spinning-wheel aria).

Es wäre schön wenn auch mal spontinis Ballettmusiken aus sein französischen Werken zu hören wären wie aus vestalin Fernando Cortez olimpie sie sind atemberaubend schön auch Massenet der Magier oder Herodes und Bacchus und Ariane auch Phänomenal
