In school I tried the 400 for the first time having run second in the 100 and 200... My coach said try the 400... I had never run 400 in my life and said no but he said go out and run 2 x 200s 😂... He said blast the first 200 and then coast.... So I had nothing to lose so I did what he had said... I blasted the first 200... I was so far in front I think the other guys gave up.... But I wasn't tired so I carried on 😂.... I eventually ran a 49:07😮....it was crazy... I never thought I could even make 400.... But from then on I stuck to the 400. Won various trophies etc But I slacked off when I hit college.... Dunno what it was but never run again. Sometimes I think the euphoria of realizing you doing something you thought you could never do gives you that extra energy... To keep going.

Looks very much like Matt Boland in the USA. Boland won the USA U17 400m before breaking the record in the 100m AND 200M THE FOLLOWING YEAR. Boland for his school won the 100m, 200m , long Jump (8m) anchored the 4*100 and backed up at the end with and incredible 44.6 in the 4*400. Looks like the same story. Not yet official because he first needs to apply to have it changed.
