On request from his father, they prefer if he is called Guot Guot (pronounced Gwot Gwot). He mentioned there was an error in the translation when they fled their original home country.

On other athletic sites, they mention his starts need a bit of work, as did Bolt’s. This means his fastest times could be off the charts. Hope he stays injury free…I love sprinting like no other athletics event. Amazing human speed is jaw dropping. Gout has that beautiful acceleration that FloJo and Bolt had…like running on the wind.

His lean frame and elegant strides makes it imperative to compare the super fast cheetah with those very muscular cats like the lion, tiger, jaguar, leopard, cougar. Absolutely mindboggling that at agr 14 he clocked the 100m at 10.57 secs.

I met a very humble man 24 years ago who clocked 10:45 at age 15 here in Australia. I said, that's insane - on target for Olympic qualification in some short years. He dismissed my comment politely and simply stated, it was an illegal head wind. He went on to martial arts.

Yes that's really the case. Anatomy/ Physique is so important for top speed. Ad this young guy has the luck to hit the genetic jackpot! If he grows taller just a bit and reach ~6ft3 (190cm) or even more with this long slim limbs narrow hips and wide shoulders we see a Bolt clon!

Gout will get better as he grows and developes , barring injuries, he should be able to break Bolts records. It is very important that he finds the right coach that will not exhaust his energy, because this was a major problem with Bolt in his teenage years. He got things right when he went to the Racers Track Club under the tutelage of his coach Glen Mills

To be running 20.04 at the age of 16 shows great promise you must admit. I am not being biased, i am Jamaican but facts are facts

there is no point getting excited over his age. the speed doesn't necessarily increase in linear fashion with age. The guy might have developed earlier than most and might have already hit his peak. He'll put some weight on and the whole phenomenon might be over. Not to mention injuries, psychology, etc. Stop stupid hype. It literally never helps.

Yep some people just develop very early and god knows at 16 or 17 years old he has a ton of energy. 20.04 isn't anywhere near running 19.19 or 19.26 or 19.30, however running 20.04 does make him very competitive in a lot of races right now.

Why would Noah Lyles be a good choice to mentor this young lad, when Gout will be his most difficult competitor to run against. It doesn’t make sense to me. Why trust Lyles? Gout doesn’t need Lyles. If Usain Bolt himself reached out to mentor him, that would be different, because Bolt is no longer a competitor.

I think Gout has a distinct advantage because he is being trained to develope his speed for the 100M at an age way before Bolt started running the 100M. Bolt started participating in the 100M professionally at the age of 20 years old

I agree , not to mention it shows disrespect to the other runners. There is no gain at all pulling up early unless injured, to think they could be on a flyer or world record, and completely blow it pulling up, maybe to never have that opportunity again.

You know when you completely floor your car and your rpms are maxing out at the 6000 to 7000 rpm range and your engine sounds like it's pushing it's limits... well that is what is happening when these top level athletes are maxing out 100m and 200m races. So pulling up is just completely normal and expected. They are often on the edge of injury.

I did mention injury, and as for preserving energy, what for, it was the final, they could of had the national record in the 4x100. If I had ran a leg in the 4x100 and gave my all only to have a team mate slow down and deny the rest of us in the relay a national record, I would be pissed off.

@Vanderwilder695 Walaza is a couple of years older than Gout Gout don’t forget and that makes a huge difference during the teenage years. Also Gout Gout pb for the 200 metres is 20.04 while Walaza’s is 20.34 so no in the 200m Walaza is most definitely not faster and I’ll go so far to say that if Gout Gout hadn’t stuffed the start in the 200 m at the world championships he would have won the gold medal.
