ç On July 2nd 2016, Australians elected their 45th Parliament in a Federal Election. This was a double Disillusion Election as both houses of the Australian Parliament had been dissolved by the Governor General on the advice of his Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull. This means that instead of a half Senate election being held with the election of the house of Representatives, this time Australians had to elect a full senate too. As of the time of recording this video several days later, there were a number of undecided seats in the House of Reps and a number still undecided in the Senate. It looks like at this stage, åthe Senate will include a number of smaller parties and independent members which will make life harder for who ever governs from the lower house for there legislative program over the next three years. For my speech 7, which is to research my topic, I delivered a speech to the Makino Magic Toastmasters Club here in New Zealand describing how the Australian Parliamentary system works and what had happened in the elections over the weekend. I called the speech “Governless”.å
