I've taken care of our granddaughter since she was 5 months old. When she was 8 month old I slipped a disc in my back and couldn't lift her so our daughter arranged for child care. For 9 days it cost her almost £300 and I put a stop to it and managed as that was all her pay so she was working for nothing. I had my granddaughter back after the 9 days and just found ways to cope. Child care is a rip off.

7:28 regarding the childcare, my eyes were opened to exactly what you’re saying when I went with my daughter to look for spots for my grandson. For her “free” hours, it still costs her £45 per week. £190 per month. And she is on a reduced wage compared to some of her colleagues, as the govt decided younger people need less money per hour - regardless of the circumstances. She can’t find a full time job that is flexible for childcare, so has a 20hr per week contract. It’s not worth her working extra shifts now as 1) she has to pay more childcare while she’s at work. And 2) they reduce her universal credit if she earns more. Those 2 combined make it pointless.

Imagine buying a business for millions of pounds..where you only make £300/£400 pw profit.....thats what lots of small family farms. Farmers wifes many have to get full time jobs off the farms to make a living..

Totally agree. Business tax affects people not businesses. Whether that's less employees, less pay, increased prices, less dividends, a squeeze on suppliers, business tax is passed onto people one way or another.

Taxes are always painful and no body likes them. However, if people want public services, roads, healthcare, law and order, education, libraries and parks then taxes must be charged. After living in the communist Republic of France for six years where all budinesses pay 26.5% on top of wage costs to the government as the employer's contribution to social charges and corporation tax is massive, all I can say is that it doesn't close businesses here. I've got used to pot hole free roads, the police and emergency services turning up minutes after they're called, no hospital waiting lists and being able to see my doctor when i like. As I said, absolutely no one likes taxes.

Same as in NL, taxes way higher, public services exquisite compared to UK, decades ahead in terms of state infrastructure and administration. Am in favor of higher taxation, would be willing to pay more myself, but also have to say some Starmer’s measures not well thought out

When I was young there was 2.4 kids per couple. Now on average there is 1.8 kids cause of inflation and costs. That means our population is slowly shrinking. Which will bake in problems for ppl our age reciening state pension.

To ignore or bash others who are aware of how politics work (sadly badly with our "system") & effects all of us is so ignorant & a sad state - & the apathy is exactly why we're in such a mess! They're the 1st ones to shout when they don't like a policy, because it directly impacts them this time, even though they "proudly" didn’t vote or "don't do politics"... IF folk dont want to listen/get different views/understanding of things/help change things then they dont need to But they cannot imo complain/sulk/discuss/attack those that care. The art of having an informed discussion or debate sadly has gone (if it was ever there) for the majority. Personally I think that fretting about whatever Govt. is in charge is a waste of energy tbh. Yeah some are rubbish but then they mostly all are imo. I concentrate on sorting out our own lives and not get too caught up in all of the political rubbish. I can't change it so no point wasting heartbeats on it. Fact is that the numbers for most Western societies are ugly and they aren't getting better. Most of the time I don't even know what flavour of state Govt. we have here.

Rant away ❤ Have you heard of Jack Spearco? He STARTED his prepper channel by using the time he had in his car trip to work. Half an hour talks. He'd have a subject and do a dialogue. I’m not tribal about our new government, was glad to get tories out, not thrilled with some of labour surprise policies (WFA, farmers etc). Would have preferred reversal of Tory unaffordable employee NI decreases vs labour employer NI increases. You are complaining about cost of living and lack of state infrastructure (eg child care) but support reform UK who’s whole thing is slash taxes (inflationary) and reduce the state provisions, which would make the things you mention worse. Good discussion anyway, all fine 🙏 not hear for fights but enjoy the debates and prepping stuff

I like that you don’t want to hear moaning and ask people to ‘kindly’ unsubscribe ( no swearing involved at all) if they don’t like political rants and hearing your opinion. I believe that Starmer the harmer will face his Karma at some point. Until then those that don’t like it should sign the petition and get on with it. Maybe write to your MP with your concerns.
