Excellent and informative video. Izzy Ang unfortunately this is getting to happen way too much nowadays. I know for a fact that I would be extremely upset to say the least. It’s great that you guys bring this to the forefront because we all wanna get out there and explore the world. And the fact of the matter is this is happeningnot just a RVs but to regular vehicles, boats, etc. Sadly, I would say 90% of these idiots don’t get caught. I can't speak for RV's licensed in Missouri, but there has been a couple of news articles regarding cars purchased in Missouri, and expired temporary license plates. From what I've seen on the news, in Missouri, due to the high taxes (property tax applied to vehicles in addition to sales tax), most car dealerships only provide a temporary tag for car purchases. It is up to the new owner, to pay the personal property tax on the vehicle, at the DMV, when they purchase non-temporary plates. The news indicates that many car owners are driving with temporary tags long expired as the owners are not pursuing non-temporary tags in a timely manner, if at all. I realize this has nothing to do with vehicle theft, but wanted to simply highlight the process of licensing a new vehicle in Missouri.

My husband had two vehicles registered in Missouri, and I find it insane that people are taxed every single year on your vehicles that you have paid taxes on already. Soon yo go away! All the taxes will go! It truly is unconstitutional!

Check the vin # with your local DMV, or even check with your police station to run the vin #.

If I remember correctly, when you purchase a vehicle in the same state as it is being registered, then generally the dealer will send the MSO to the State, and they will send the newly created title to either the lienholder or you if no lien exists. On the other hand, if you purchase out of state, then the dealer will provide you with the MSO, which you then will present to the DMV in the state of registration, as the selling dealer does not have a relationship/responsibility with the state in which it may be registered. Hope that helps.

I had a property with an abandoned vehicle on it. I ran the vin through the NHTSA site and it did not turn up as stolen. When the local police ran the number it showed as stolen. Be very carful.

Oh boy. Glad I only deal with a dealer. The kind of dealer that is nationwide recognized by the industry. Yes there are stickers and run the number. The MVA is worth the inquiry.

Generally speaking, the only time an owner (purchaser) would get an MCO/MSO is if they are buying the vehicle/RV from a dealer, and the dealer is not in the state where the owner/purchaser resides, and pays cash. Variations to the above: A. If you are financing the RV from an out of state dealer, the dealer may give you the MCO/MSO and leave it up to the buyer to take the MCO/MSO to your local licensing office to get the rig titled and have the "lienholder" information (the financing bank) listed as the legal owner. (This is what happened when I bought an RV from a dealer in Oregon as a Washington resident a few years ago) B. The dealer may handle the licensing/titling on their own, if they are set up with the state the buyer lives in to do business as a dealer (if the buyer is in one state, and the dealer is in another state). This is a very rare scenario. C. The dealer may send the MCO/MSO directly to the financing bank, and the bank may hold it, or the may title the vehicle and have their name listed as a lienholder (legal owner) on the title. If you are buying a USED RV, do your due diligence to buy from a non fly-by-night dealer - a business that has been around for a while and not a place that popped up overnight.

My Dad- Fly By Night Dealership_ Btw I just caught a scammer on a part in a FB group all I had to do was Google his phone number he was in a Tiffin owners group selling rv parts ripping people off…I turned him in & he was booted out of the group. They need to cut fingers off thieves imo.
