There are plans for about 7000 acres of farm land around us to be taken by three solar farms. Add this to the thousands of acres of maize grown for bio-digesters and there will probably be more land used for energy production than food! It's already difficult for us to find extra land to rent and this is likely to get much worse 😞

Also in burton on trent, about 410acres of farmland to be used for solar farms. Absolute stupidity. I also read a story recently of a pig farmer in Norfolk being paid 1 million pounds to stop rearing livestock so the council can build 1400 new homes

what farmers everywhere are in dire need of is a superslickPR person to defend their corner just like big business have. The fees going to the NFU and IFA should be in part diverted into a legal defense fund to defend farmers every time ridiculous claims are made. Like the carbon footprint assessment system that condemns farmes, like milk from nuts and seeds as a form of milk, like the fact that meat factories have never paid for anything taken off or out of carcases like offal, like below cost selling in supermarkets and the supermarkets using farm identity website names that simply do not exist to sell some food items. Iv just scratched the surface.

Don't think farmers are wanted here in Ireland uk Europe. Governments would rather ship all foods across the world from countries with cattle fed hormones whiles doing away with rain forest to produce food. Also what footprint is shipping causing to get here. If trade deals with mercusor and Australia go ahead farming wont exist this side of globe whiles our own land and farmers will be left ideal. We are been so badly supported
