I (nor anyone else I know) never imagined, not even in my craziest nightmares that one day, this was going to be a serious topic to discuss. As a 58 year old who has identified as a male since three years of age, but has lived a life in accordance with my biologically female body, I can't believe we've even got to this point. I feel male in my head and through many behavioural expressions, but I wouldn't even begin to expect that anyone else would see me or refer to me as a male. I have a female body, and even if I altered it with surgery or hormones to look like a male, I STILL am a female because of my original anatomy. Pronouns? I'm a qualified mental health professional, and I still remain open minded and cautious about labelling people. I heard a piece on the radio some months ago from someone who had escaped the regime in North Korea. Apparently, in school, the children there are provided with proof from their glorious leader that 1+1 does not equal 2. Bringing this nonsense into primary school and pre-school TV is frankly alarming everyone. My 85 year old father-in-law was recently asked by NHS if he could be pregnant. Aren’t you forgetting the Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA), that places a legal obligation on all businesses and places of work to manage and minimize risk. I cannot see how you can comply with that if anyone with a penis is allowed to enter what was or is intended to be a dedicated biological female only toilet, changing room or otherwise such space. To refer to and demand that your biological sex and your surgically and/of chemically modified sex are the same thing is global gaslighting. We need one word which exclusively means biological sex and you can have as many inclusive and cuddly words as you like which refer to biological sex characteristics which have been modified. We need to be able to draw a clear distinction between the two in everyday conversation, the law, medicine and everything else because the two ARE different.
