I just keep coming back to this!! If there are any young ones watching and more importantly, listening, check the FEELING and the FLOW!!! This is a REAL BAND firing off of EACH OTHER!! The way it was meant to be!! Now you don’t have to play THIS kind of music if you don’t want.( personally I don’t see why you wouldn’t) but WHATEVER you play... it has to flow and meld and blend together!! THAT IS MUSIC!! Different people working on ONE thing to create a NEW thing!! Check it!! File it!! Rock on!!

It's well past time Warren gets put in the same legend category as Duane Allman/Eric Clapton/Peter Green/SRV ETC to many to name but he is my legend I grew up watching and listening to this man and is as great as anybody else!

Nice. I watched Los Lobos' "Tomorrow Never Knows" just before this, and I'm surprised to see John Lennon's psychedelia coming to the forefront like this. My limited touring garage band used to play these songs long before this, back when all my friends were listening to Thompson Twins, and here we are. Needless to say we were neither killer nor rad. Perhaps W Haynes et al. have been playing this music in the studio in the dark of night, but parents aren't afraid of this angelic noise anymore. Maybe because their parents played it for them when they were kids?

By Robbie Thornton "We did a live mix of all the loops. All over the studios we had people spooling them onto machines with pencils while Geoff did the balancing. There were many other hands controlling the panning. It is the one track, of all the songs The Beatles did, that could never be reproduced: it would be impossible to go back now and mix exactly the same thing: the ‘happening’ of the tape loops, inserted as we all swung off the levers on the faders willy-nilly, was a random event." George Martin explaining how the tape loops on TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS was produced in the studio Source: The Beatles Bible Robbie's Commentary Even though TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS closed out the brilliant Revolver, it was the first song on the album recorded in the studio, and is often cited as The Beatles most innovative song John found the first line of the song 'Turn off your mind relax and float downstream' from Timothy Leary's psychedelic version of The Tibetan Book Of The Dead', 'The Psychedelic Experience' In true John being John fashion, he used yet another Ringoism that Ringo used during a@ BBC TV interview at London Airport when the boys returned from America rather than something esoteric like 'The Void which he considered using I love that TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS was what I think of as a true team effort in more ways than one Paul spent a whole night creating a whole series of short tape loops that he gave to their engineer Geoff Emerick in a plastic bag in the studio the next day They were a crazy collection of sounds; wine glasses ringing, distorted guitars, Paul laughing and many other unrecognisable objects The boys, George Martin and Geoff Emerick chose five to use on the basic backing track They used every tape machine in Abbey Road complex that were connected via wiring in the walls, and 'borrowed' every available EMI employee to hold a drinking glass or pencil to give the loops proper tensioning sound they wanted The boys shouted which tape they wanted to George Martin and Geoff at the mixing desk which acted like a synthesizer, and they played it like a musical instrument Absolute team effort genius While absolutely a John song, it was Paul's innovative idea to use tape loops and he played both lead and bass guitar, George played guitar, sitar and tambura, Ringo played a thunderous drum pattern and played tambourine, while John sang the vocals and played the organ John said he wanted his voice to sound like the Dalai Lama chanting from a hilltop, so engineer Geoff Emerick ran the vocals through a rotating Leslie speaker and varied the speed, which produced a kind of intermittent vibrato effect, and everyone in the studio was blown away by it As George Martin said, all of them spooled the tapes onto the machines using pencils, which sounds crazy, but it absolutely worked There's no doubt in my mind that TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS was the most innovative song on Revolver

I have been listening to and playing rock music for almost 50 years and I have never heard a les paul sound that great (that is really saying something!). Technically, he is not as great as the man, Les Paul or of Phil Keaggy, but the sound, the style, never heard anything sounding this great (it is not always the over-the-top virtuoso that has the best sound - for example, Ringo Starr on drums). Amazing!

The key thing is taste, i agree. Not how many notes you can play in a second. What is being said in 64ths or 32nds at 140 bpm? I prefer melody, Paul McCartney vs. Quincy Jones improvisation story. The songwriter vs. the technician. Who had the #1s, the people agree. And yes Paul had #1s under pseudonyms. I'm liking this Govt Mule more and more everytime I hear them.
