The way the broadsheet phrased the cpf contribution news at first glance was confusing. Is it because they took effort to Phrase it a certain way? Note that majority SG workers are not platform workers. They may not understand as well. After a few re-reading, I realise eventually this cpf thing is funded by the gig workers themselves and the consumers pay more and this helps fund the gig platforms pay for the so-called employer contribution. So this is pro-business as usual. Simply put, it reminds me of a science concept called Perpetual Motion machine. There is perceived perpetual motion but in reality no free energy has been created. The energy merely converted from one form to another resulting in the same total energy. Get it? Debit and credit entries inserted but the nett is the same. Subsequent years will mean CPF contribution coming out of rider's take home pay. Honestly, platform work is a gig. Why are these workers still required to pay CPF? Singaporeans should lobby against CPF and vote for a party who would call for the total abolishment of CPF. Savings, retirement planning, and healthcare are individual responsibility and private affair.

Don't agree w cpf abolishment. It is a forced savings system that works and will prevent heavy social welfare burden when these ppl reaches retirement age.

Who are "Platform workers"? These workers are self-employed and use online platforms to match themselves to delivery and transport jobs.
