Nice update ..... been following for a long time. Completely agree with you on the Hattons wagons mine arrived with all sorts of loose bits in the box. However they do look really good.

Looks great what you are doing. For the siding area, what about an old and disused brick goods shed. Something that shows a little history of the line perhaps? Other options could be is a private siding for a merchant like timber perhaps? Otherwise great update, Clint

Great to see an update from Gowerton, you’ve been busy since I saw your last video. The hard standing looks amazing, I reckon you’ve nailed the texture. As to that old flask depot I couldn’t help but like the baron look it has In its current state. Perhaps it could be left that way with additional weeds and abandoned materials but still usable as a stabling point for the odd departmental type wagon. Look forward to seeing what you do with it whatever you decide. Paul

Excellent video love watching them, in terms of the area near the station you could us it as a vehicle unloading point by adding a ramp on the smaller track or as a spoil removal site where spoil from a building/tunnelling project been carried on off scene as they do in London on the Cross rail and just have front loaders filling wagons :) I hope that helps keep up the great videos :)
@GowertonParkway5 жыл бұрын
Ed Wr Thank you ! I think the idea to have somewhere to unload vehicles by road to rail could be incorporated quite easily .

Immediately I'm envious and sort of kicking myself. I've had an n gauge 60 sat in a drawer for about five years now ready to be repainted into 60066 with the coal sector/transrail branding and you've already done it. Layout progress looks great bud. That said, based on what I've seen of your latest exhibition layout wouldn't expect anything less.

@sub39h5 жыл бұрын
Rather than a stabling point next to the station what about a ballast yard? It has access to both road and rail and you already seem to have a mound of ballast next to it?
@GowertonParkway5 жыл бұрын
sub39h The only issue I’ve got unfortunately is that there isn’t enough room to assemble a train of any length (probably enough room for one loco and 2 wagons) , so unfortunately a wagon yard of any sort is tricky. Funnily enough that ballast mound is a throwback to when the layout was in its first version running around half of the loft !
@sub39h5 жыл бұрын
Gowerton Parkway you have the siding next to the station tho - a ballast train could park in there and you could use a shunter to move wagons in and out of the sidings for ballast? Defo opportunities for some more detailed operation here.
@onnomulder97755 жыл бұрын
@11:55 Why not a container terminal or a track maintenance company? Great update!! Cheers Onno.
@GowertonParkway5 жыл бұрын
Onno Mulder Thanks Ono . The area there is a bit too small for a container terminal unfortunately. The maintenance area / stabling point is probably what I’ll go with :-)
@SWT4425 жыл бұрын
Layouts coming along nicely. The stock and era is right up my street, and so well weathered and detailed too! For the hard standing area, what about doing an OTP depot/stabling point? Somewhere for the MPV, RHTT and any other track machines to be serviced and stabled. Looks to be about the right size for such a thing.

Hi there, what about a small container handling base or the edge of steel scrap handling plant. The latter would fit in nicely with the Welsh theme. Clive.
@GowertonParkway5 жыл бұрын
Clive briggs Thanks Clive . I really like the idea of a scrap plant , the only issue I’ve got , is that I probably wouldn’t be able to fit trains of any length in there . The sidings really are quite small.

You could extend the line closest to the camera so it’s equal to the middle line and erect a shed of some description and use it as a facility to store two and three car DMU’s. Perhaps even a wagon repair shop or scrap metal facility. May be just a goods yard served by van trains for the transporting of pallets and sacks. The later of which would just require the placement of pallets, sacks and a fork lift truck. And maybe extending the small mound to give a reason for it being at an angle compared to the mainline.
@GowertonParkway5 жыл бұрын
North Nottinghamshire Railways good ideas . I did think about extending that siding as you had suggested , the the area where the road is , has been made of polyfiller and would be quite difficult to lay track on annoyingly .

Marcus, the TMD looks good. A stabling point would, in my opinion, would be better. Everyone seems to be doing a Nuclear Flask area. Nice little running session.
@GowertonParkway5 жыл бұрын
Nigel Carter I think the fact that I’ve done the nuclear flask terminal properly as an exhibition layout pretty much has set my decision that I don’t need one in the loft too. Stabling point is 99.9% likely the decision I’ll make .

@JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller5 жыл бұрын
Ok, this is in no way a criticism, just an observation. You said that the station side was about finished. The dual carriageway bridge needs either reinforced fencing or high side barriers along the section over the running lines. Aramco fencing isn't enough to hold back an hgv (it doesn't always do well against a 7.5 tonner) so wouldn't be used on it's own along an over bridge. Aside from that, it's all looking great. Bring on the next update.
@GowertonParkway5 жыл бұрын
JAMES DEMU yea they’ve got to be added still . The central reservation isn’t quite complete yet either . I need to get the gantry in before I decide what I’m going use , as I’m not sure where I’m going to mount the gantry yet . Ive found some barrier from noch that I’ll likely use .
@JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller5 жыл бұрын
@@GowertonParkway take a look at the queen Elizabeth bridge (dartford crossing). Its deceptively tall and has only a single layer of fence and a barrier to stop you dropping into the river below. Then look at the M1 bridges over the Midland mainline between junctions 26 and 22. They look like theyd stop a tank 😂 The height of them also means you cant see over them even if you're in a wagon. Really keen to see how you construct them now as its something I've seen others attempt but very rarely get right.
