@@susantyner4525 : Well, on may 4th my green finch girlie died, probably a heart attack in the night. I found her lying down in her cage in the morning. She aged five, which is a common age for finches. I had hoped she would at least make it to eight due to having a sheltered life but it wasn't given. So, if I could cut this year out of existence, I wouldn't hesitate.

I have loved and studied owls since I was a very young child (other kids were reading juvenile fiction, and I was reading non-fiction owl books!), and finally got to volunteer at the Carolina Raptor Center for many years. I hope to do so again, and this video inspires me! At the risk of sounding like a know-it-all, and with genuine respect, the third eyelid is the nicTitating membrane; perhaps I didn't catch the pronunciation of that first "t," but it sounded like "nicitating." Just wanted to add my two cents! Wonderful work you're doing!

You are so kind and caring. I had a great horn on my tree for months. He let me talk to him daily. I think he liked me. I didn’t feed him. He finally found a girlfriend and left me. I know not feeding him was the right thing to do. I also get screech owls that I don’t feed. I think they like my voice. I don’t like people that feed nature.

Hi Martin and a belated very Happy Birthday! Many years ago worked with a wildlife rehab. Once gathering mama duck and babies, mama attacked my head LOL so i can just imagine those talons! Question, in all the years have you ever had a bird you released come back to your house, perhaps following your car? And are all birds not fit to be released back into the wild, are they euthanized or have rehabbers adopted (can they?) i.e. bird lost a leg, has anyone fitted one with a prosthesis? I have a big soft spot for owls, being so quiet and stealthy and those beautiful eyes. By the way how much does 1000 rats cost?
