I'm irish-finnish and my ancestors came here from a combination of 1900-1948 and they were very hard-working people and made an effort to put everything into trying to fit into the older canadian society, so I respect them. Sometimes they weren't treated well and were disrespected but they tried so hard to make an impact in our country, even if it might've costed them their lives. I respect anyone who comes to Canada and tries their best to be a hard worker and integrate. However I don't respect anybody who comes here and doesn't try to fit in and leech off being a student. You never enter somebody's home and claim it's your own.

The EU Parliament Election are to come! The "blue parties" are likely to win, EU wide. The inequality is more their way of preferred method. The "red parties" are more for equality. Sinn Fein, a dark red party, will surely win, in the Republic of Ireland! Brexit is still to unfold his consequences! In England, the Tories lost hundreds of local council seats. Judging from these comments, humans are an extremely tribal species, and people tend to prefer their own tribe and dislike or fear other tribes. No amount of education or hectoring can change that. Diversity is not a strength, it is a big problem.

Diversity is NOT a strength! It’s a strength for government, not society. Why is it that the Chinese have their own neighbourhood, the Indians have their own town in the GTA, same with the Pakistani and other Muslim communities, all have their own communities…. The only people that don’t have an area for themselves are the Whites? The only people who are not allowed to have their own country and culture are Whites? Germany, France, Italy, the UK, the Netherlands, Sacandinavia…. all have to take in other cultures? No Thanks!

Simply put, culture is a system of norms and values, and it's very hard having multiple large groups with significantly different norms and values, that's all it is -- every country simply needs to immigrate at a speed that does not outpace assimilation into their system of norms and values.

everyone is from India around here in the suburbs or Toronto ... everytime i call technical help or order a pizza talking to them is super annoying because of the way they talk they are not being clear and they like to have loud annoying parties everytime one of their friends has a birthday no matter what day of the week it is as late as 3:00am and they don't recycle because everything goes in the garbage and they put food in the blue bin all the time this is not good for the environment or the sanity of adjacent tenants and too much immigration drives up the cost of everything including food and especially rent ... I'm tired hearing the Indian accent in whatever language they speak everytime i pass someone on the street ... everyone is from India ... what backdoor deal was reached with our politicians ? why was Harper trying to get free trade with India right before he knew he was going to lose the election ? how is freetrade good for jobs in Canada ? it isn't ... I'm Canadian and have been accommodating and respectful to foreigners all my life but now we're being invaded and overridden and i can't understand them because of the way they talk and it is actually a well known problem for everyone else who isn't speaking in the Indian language ... I've had enough of this stupidity from our so-called government that isn't governing anything because they are not actually controlling anything.

What was his name? I have done a lot of research on Swedes in Alberta and read many books on local history. Many Alberta Swedes were recruited from North Dakota or Minnesota. The centre of Swedish emigration in Alberta was Wetaskiwin close to Edmonton. Calmar is the only township in Canada that has a Swedish name, and it's not too far away from there. Carl Johan Blomquist, one of the Swedes who traveled north from the US, founded it.

@@jroc3060 nice. Eric Westlund, a first settler in Calmar, acquired his first car, a Ford, in 1917. The first history of Calmar included his story, as well as that of several other settlers. I'll tell you the Indian's secret to how they mass migrated so easy. ( I don't mean this in any sort of negative way. ) This was told to me by a friend I work with who's entire family came to Canada from India. So what his family did and many, many others did was... In India they all pool all there $ to 1 family member, that family member gets his full citizenship to Canada then moves here. Soon as possible he will buy a business, then they start brining family members over 1 by 1 through work visas and they all work on getting there citizenships, they all work together and purchase a house. Once they get that house, one family member stays there and the rest buy another and they all work to pay it off, then just keep repeating until all the family members have there own house. meanwhile they are all still working together at there business and start bringing close friends from India via work visas then it all just repeats over and over.

@@ynandal Still hard to understand, for example, in 1933 it shows 1M UK + 1M for others, but population was growing around 100K per year and it was around 10M people. It could be number of immigrants since the creation of Canada but again, I saw some numbers decrease so it doesn't work too... I don't trust those numbers ! Even in 2024 we have around 500K immigrants per year. Those numbers would work for the US country but way too high for Canada.

You should read ''Identité Anti-Québécoise'' by Jean François Lisée. There is no unity, it is the newcommers against Quebec's existence. Immigrants are acting more like invaders, dehumanizing French Canadians and teaching their kids to hate us while they vote against our interests. We foolishly welcomed them and they stabbed us in the back those traitors.

Lots of folks from the USSR emigrated to various countries when the Soviet Union collapsed. A lot of them went to European countries, and a lot of their Jewish emigrants went to Israel. Some did end up immigrating to Canada. Keep in mind that the USSR had perhaps 270 million people just before it collapsed. India has 1.4 billion people or almost 5 times as many people as the USSR did, and India has perhaps 350 million people who speak some English (thank you British colonial overlords of a century ago). Therefore one would naturally expect far more Indian immigrants to Canada based on numbers and linguistic skill alone.
