As this tractor came to us already partially dismantled we never got to dismantle the governor mechanism, so in this video we work through the full end to end governor mechanism and do the initial setting up as per the Service Manual.
KMP Brand (formerly Anglo-Agriparts) supplied the carburettor - their part number: A67694
Please visit their website for spares, tips and advice:

Hi thanks for posting this have started to do mine, I was laughing to myself when you first put the carb on, I did a similar thing when putting the dash back together as it has to be in a certain order.

Hi Michell, thank you! 🙏 Yes, very excited now. Watch for the next video! 😉😁 The choke is not yet connected, only the throttle lever. I will connect the choke only once the tractor is painted 😉👍😁

Great video! Does it mention in the manual to leave the rod from the governor 90 degree rod with the ball joint on it connected when adjusting the screw to take the free play out on the distributor side of the timing cover? It does make sense as the spring on the rod will keep the mechanism tensioned and it should be easier to feel the screw as it takes up the slack. And did you have the throttle set to idle while doing the adjustment on the screw?

Hi Dazsden, thanks for your comment. The procedure I have is to disconnect everything and set each item in sequence. At idle, the spring should be loose, it only comes under tension as you move off of idle. The screw on the timing cover is pushing up against a length of spring steel which in turn provides some ’play’ between the lever and the centrifugal mechanism on the pulley. You do want to keep the lever in the “idle” position while adjusting the screw tho. Hope this helps 👍😉

That govener setup looks the same as my old to20. The top spring on mine is different. One end is longer that hooks to the small linkage. I am not sure that it is right on mine. It could have been changed over the years. I can email a pic or a video clip if you need to compare.

Hi Jerry, thanks for your comment. It’s possible that the spring may have been changed, either by Ferguson or anyone else since it left the factory 😂. It would be interesting to see yours if you’re able to send a photo. Email address is: waterhouseforde at gmail dot com 👍😉
