hi professor, it's crazy how good and accurate is this video. I'm currently taking a Geophisics exam, with a big focus on application to monitor landslides, they explained us the GPR method very quickly to be able to do some measurement on the field. The problem is that they had to cut half of the program to be able to finish on time, so i had some gap in the theory of GPR. Thanks a lot for the perfect explanation

Excellent Chanel for learning GPR !! Thank you for the great job. I have question regarding the EM locator. Are we talking about EM conductivity locator (EMI) such as EM-31 and EM-38 or you mean the CAT devices such as RD8100? The reason for my question is the variation of definition of EM locator in the literature in different countries.

Hey Prof. What do you use to the reconstruction of root system geometry using correlation analysis in the 3D domain? Do you know anything about using Matlab for doing this?
@Learngpr4 жыл бұрын
Hi Shaunna, thanksnfornthenquestion. We wouldn't use matlab for correlation analysis, but we would plot the reflections in gpr-slice to generate visualizations of the root system. We could definitely give you a demo of the software if you are interested.

Hello Many thanks for this great video. Really helpful. I have some questions: 1. Would you get signals attenuation in case of small thickness of clay? 2. Would you get reflections from clay in case of wet sand interceded with clay? 3. What depth can penetrate in conductive soils using 250 MHz. Thanks
@Learngpr7 жыл бұрын
Rebwar Nasir hi. I'll put these answers on the free training comments as well. Even small layers of saturated clay can attenuate signals. This can occur for 2 reasons. 1. The conductivity of the soil will cause signal loss. 2. If you have a layer of saturated clay embedded in sand, the reflection will cause some of the energy to move back to the ground surface leaving a smaller amount of energy to continue into the ground. How deep can a 250 mhz antenna prospect in conductive soils? It depends on how conductive the soils. Maybe a few centimeters in salt water saturated soils. In wet clay I got about 50 - 70 cm the other day. It all depends. Hope this was helpful.

Hello Daniel, Do we need to learn advanced physics behind modeling GPR data or Do we have to just focus on interpreting data? Do companies require physics knowledge behind the scene when hiring?
@Learngpr5 жыл бұрын
Usually advanced physics is not required, but a basic understanding of geophysics is usually helpful for interpretations, and on the job market. I would learn as much as possible, but formal university coursework is not always required. Our training programs, including the book can be very helpful.

LearnGPR Thank you very much for the quick response ... as you know with high frequencies we can not go deep but we can see objects of small sizes and with high frequencies one can go deep but one can only see objects large Size, I want to know if there is a compromise between the two? I work in the field of archaeologist
@Learngpr7 жыл бұрын
Ok. Got it. So there are a couple of options that would work well for archaeology. The new Leica DS 2000 has a 250/700 MHz. GSSI has a 300/800 MHz antenna. Finally, Sensors and software has the Noggin cart. You can put any two of their antenna on it at the same time. They have 100, 250, 500, and 1000 MHz antenna. If you would like me to put you in touch with any of them just let me know. Hope this helps. Thanks again for the comment!

hello sir..I had one doubt regarding corridor...suppose footpath and bituminous road are at different height .can our corridor include both footpath as well as bituminous road.? I have been told whole corridor should be at same level

LearnGPR ..sir,I am talking about corridor of GPR...suppose our corridor is of 5 m and length is of 100 meter..should our corridor should be of same level from the ground? actually I am doing excavation of electric cable..but sometimes footpath and road is of different level from the ground..
@sahiltikku69706 жыл бұрын
corridor means width or area
@Learngpr6 жыл бұрын
Sahil Tikku got it. So ideally you want the corridor to be flat. Unfortunately uou cant always have that. You will have to address each level separately. Good luck!

sir can you explain how to find lithology by using GPR?
@Learngpr7 жыл бұрын
Hi Erika! I can't seem to find your question. Can you re-comment with it? I would like to answer it for you. Thanks
@Learngpr7 жыл бұрын
aakasha ramanna I'll do a video for lithology at some point. Thanks for the suggestion. Generally, gpr is combined with boreholes or earth resistance during studies of lithology. It can be difficult to evaluate the physical properties of geological structure sometimes when only using gpr.
@abdalgadermohammed45705 жыл бұрын
aakasha ramanna there is no certain way to identify a certain type of lithology with geophysics, you can use the right tools on the right site and as the professor said compared them with a catches samples or borehole .

you need to put your radar through the test , find a 1913 marathon car that was buried in a field in Texas 1936 . I had metal detecting club come out with hand held unit , years ago and rented a backhoe but no luck , it is about 6 ft deep in a 5 acre area , they filled in a ditch . Would pay for cost . Barry Walker marathon village.com thanks .
