Interesting. 2 weeks ago using the GPX6000 i found a 0.5 gram nugget at 250mm with the 11 inch mono in Auto Max at Tibooburra. The day before i found 14 nuggets for 0.52 grams in total! So the 6000 certainly loves the small gold but unsure why your test did not pick up 1gram nugget at 200mm. Looking forward to seeing a comparison using the 17 inch mono (when they become available) on the the 6000.

@johnnytheprick Hi Johnny - the hole was 330mm in depth and the nugget was conservatively found at 250mm. I have photos and a witness. Could be just a function of machine settings, soil condition and angle/shape of nugget. Most of the other nuggets found were tiny at about 100mm depth.

I'm using a GPX 5000 with 25 XDD and can hear a 1g at 16 inches (it is a very soft target response) and is mineralised ground all around Tarnagulla. People are leaving so many nuggets behind cause there using small coils or assume that soft change in threshold is ground noise, or completely miss it with high chatter threshold. As for the 6000, it can't pickup large nuggets deep missed a 6oz at 24 inches didn't matter on which coil or setting either. I'm not picking on it its fantastic on tiny gold I've gotten sub grammars at 9-10 inches it will light up the goldfields again for tiny gold. Yes, you need to clear out all shallow targets first to hear the hiding deeper targets.

@johnnytheprick maybe they spend more time drinking than detecting. Although the last gpz user i meet in the bush just dug a big hole near a tree and was talking to his mate about it on his mobile. Thats when I encountered him. He said his experienced mate said he's detected wet or moist tree root that gpz is known for detecting. After an hour or so of chit-chat he left. I checked the unfilled hole and there was a target but I felt ithe sound was coming from under the tree itself. Checked all around the tree base with gpx5000 and the stupid idiot dug wrong side of the tree and left behind 53g about 22 inches down not bad for wet tree roots.

I like the fact you are unbiased in your approach but they are shocking results really. I expected better on both machines. Punters also need to understand how they would be using these machines in general patch hunting. They would miss the 200mm targets. My 4500 with an 8inch would boom in on that 1grammer at 200mm and has done at over 300mm depth here in the West. Appreciate you doing the test.

Both great detectors BUT it Would have been interesting if you used the 12”nf on the zed against the gpx or the std zed coil against the 17” gpx. Not sure but the emi was more of a prob than the ground noise on one small target🤔. So many variables in doing these tests
@GaryPArmstrong
@GaryPArmstrong 2 жыл бұрын
The 6000 loves the coil very close to the ground and if kept close to the ground at all times the noises will eventually dissipate. However, as soon as you lift the coil then the EMI again appears to start up again and then you have to do an EMI cancels again. This I experienced over here in the goldfields where there was not too much material around but where there were rocks as you do find all the time, this means you must lift your coil to clear and the EMI starts again. So in conclusion with the 6000 if you pick ground with little rock it performed much better. I call the ground you are checking out your detectors to be good ground to use a 6000 but in the bush, as you have you will get a lot of EMI interference. Hope you find this interesting. If you are on that type of ground then use the setting semi-automatic (11 setting with sensitivity on) and low and slow and I mean slow. If any wind around and it gets under the coil again also it plays up. So once I kept it closer to the ground where it was touching I went through covers and hence a mercy call to the nearest prospecting shop to post more covers to where I was. 😗

A good comparison, I thought both machines would go deeper than that on those nuggets. Running the 6 with the threshold on does improve signals (Smoky Prospecting did a test on that). I tend to think that running the 6 in auto it keeps on smoothing more and more out, I may be wrong but it’s more noticeable with the DD coil. Thanks for sharing, liked and subbed.
@jenkosgoldadventures
@jenkosgoldadventures 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think I mentioned it in the video about the threshold and sensitivity (in manual mode). I think auto is less sensitive because it is automatically balancing the ground so could balance out weaker targets However auto is sometimes a better mode especially in ground that’s changing in mineralisation regularly. Thanks for the like and sub👍

@jenkosgoldadventures
@jenkosgoldadventures 3 жыл бұрын
The nuggets were taped to the end of the stick. The hole was a 25 mm conduit on a 45 degree angle so with the nuggets at 200mm deep we had 300mm of stick in the ground, the stick where it entered the ground was 200mm from the centre of the nuggets. Meaning once the nugget was at 200mm or deep both coil centre’s could go directly over the nugget.

Hi Yes mate well done , I was contemplating buying a 6,000 but after contacting various outlets to see if I could hire one first , and being told no outlet has them for hire , I’ve decided against it I personally think Minelab could do better with their P.R it’s actually very poor, and let people try before they buy I will not buy one , they are not worth $7,999 if they were 3-4K less perhaps Really $7,999 to pickup fly droppings at very shallow depth For the price I would expect depth of the 7,000 on the slightly larger bits Just not worth it
@jenkosgoldadventures
@jenkosgoldadventures 2 жыл бұрын
For the $4k mark you would be looking at a sdc 2300 or a gpx5000, the 6 is a awesome detector picks up small gold that the 7 wouldn’t get. However the 7 will bet the 6 easily for deeper bigger nuggets. Normally there’s more small gold then bigger nuggets. So what it should come too is what gold do you have in your area is there more likely to find or if you have both bigger and small what do you want to look for. Good luck 🤞

Seems like you did not try and make , adjusting etc. with the 6000 as much as you tried & adjusted with the 7000 ? Thanks
@jenkosgoldadventures
@jenkosgoldadventures 3 жыл бұрын
The 6000 doesn’t have many adjustments to make there’s two auto modes 1 & 2, 2 is just more sensitive then 1 which I did try during the test however the ground was to hot/ noisy to run it in. There is 1 manual mode however you can just adjust the sensitivity levels in that mode I played around with it a bit. That’s what attractive with the 6000 it’s pretty easy to use ( less adjustments). The 7000 on the other hands has heaps of different settings in easy mode therefore there’s many combinations that could be used. I did try a few different settings in a few different modes but there are heaps more that could be made. The 7000 is a great machine and you can dial it in to your ground and find gold that other detectors won’t however you can also make adjustments in the wrong direction too and miss gold. As I mentioned in the video they are both great machines in there own right just really comes down to your skill level, the area your fossicking in and type of detecting your intended to do. Thanks for the comment. I’m planning on doing a few more test with different coils and other machines. If you have any suggestions of other test or something you would like to see let me know. Cheers 🍻

Your comparing an 11” coil to a 14” coil so not apples for apples

Agree Wayne. It’s just the coil I prefer to use. I’m planning to do the same test with the 14” double D in the near future.

@@jenkosgoldadventures I had the DD on my 6000 over the weekend and it doesn’t seem to punch as deep as the 11” Be good for salt lakes or high EMI areas only IMO Once the 17” comes out & you have the 3 coil package the 6 will have them all covered IMO

Yes I have heard that about the 14” the 17” should be a great coil hopefully preform as well if not better then the 5000 with a 17” coil. And the price of $530 seems reasonable too

No they compliment each other. If you find some good ground make sure you go over it with both detectors
