As a disabled American Veteran I thoroughly enjoyed this rendition of our National Anthem. It brought tears to my eyes and shivers to my entire body. No matter what the naysayers and crap talkers have to say about you four WONDERFUL young women you keep doing what you do it is awesome.

For anyone who suggests that this is not a traditional enough arrangement. How about opening your ears and listening to what is really the best version of the anthem I've heard on youtube. Anyone who criticizes this is jealous, plain and simple.
@gaelengesser94846 жыл бұрын
Call me jealous, plain and simple. At a sporting event the National Anthem should be a sing along. This was a gorgeous arrangement, but not singable by the guys in the seats.
@hypercubemaster27293 жыл бұрын
Or they just don't prefer the arrangement. You can't just accuse others of jealousy just because they disagree with you on what you like. For me, there just wasn't enough passion in it, and the arrangement was not my favorite. I won't dare say they aren't talented, because they are extremely talented; however, this just didn't do it for me. Now, the Gaither Vocal Band: THAT'S a beautiful arrangement and you can feel the passion behind it!
@dianeskipworth9418Ай бұрын
@@hypercubemaster2729 I definitely wouldn't call it jealousy. Some people are not subject to change. However, I can imagine being in hearing distance to those "guys in the seats" singing along with sounds I would hope to never hear again!

the way I see it there are far worse things people could do with a national anthem and if the disparaging comments refer to their patriotism or something I think that's simply out of line. Have I finally met a representative of fans' opinions everywhere? Be glad they took such a wonderful song and made a version of it that takes some people's breath away. If it doesn't leave people feeling good, then it certainly shouldn't make you feel you have to find some negativity. Awesome rendition.

You folks putting down the performance haven't seen too many National Anthems live at sporting events have you? Would you prefer to hear some no talent actress try and sing it or a "singer" who can't carry a tune without Autotune? This was one of the absolute best I've heard. Nearly every singer has a little variance on the original, theirs was beautiful and tasteful. Thank you, ladies!

Typically, youtube viewers fall into two categories: 1. Those who usually make positive comments about the video they have viewed; 2. Those who judge the video and the people on the video and make disparaging remarks about the video. It's really sad that so many people in our world today have only negative things to say about everything. These are people who think they have all the right answers and they revel in their so-called ability to comment on what is correct and what is not correct in life. KZbin viewers who take the high road most often say something complimentary about the videos, or they refrain from saying something inappropriate. The GQ singers are singing the National Anthem from their hearts. They are award winning quartet singers who know their craft and have lifted the spirits of many, many people through their music. Their rendition of The Star Spangled Banner is both beautiful and meaningful. Thank you ladies of GQ!

I think it was done in a respectful and honorable way to give their best to honor the flag and Country. I'd hope our servicemen and women would agree that this rendition honored them with no negatives. Coming from a family with generations that have served and serve, I had no problem with this. I thought they offered their best to honor the flag and the United States.

Absolutely, as a 30-year career guy, I feel honored that they put so much original effort into the Anthem. It's a far cry from the original version which was a popular drinking song.

I understand the comments about modifications of the traditional anthem but this has happened many times with many different singers, and compared to some of the others I've heard, this is quite nice. And, after all, they are a quartet. If the venue at which they sang did not want any deviation from a traditional rendition, why did they invite a quartet to sing it? That doesn't make sense.

What is it with singing the Anthem in 4/4 time? That seems to be de rigueur in the 21st century. Even Renee Fleming did it at Superbowl XLVIII. Why not the authentic 3/4 time?

Agreeing with Frank White, the Star Spangled Banner is not a tune for cutsy arrangements. Perhaps you CAN sing it in a traditional manner with some harmonies, but the recording here is not acceptable. It's our nation's anthem, not something from a music workshop.

I can't hear you...the stick up your butt is so far up that it's sticking out your mouth and blocking your speech..
@KrittaSize9 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey Rudzinski Funny. I thought the girls sang well. Big names and little names have screwed up the Anthem. Roseanne Barr should never hold a microphone when it's time for the Anthem. Many others laugh and say 'O, I'm not that good." Well then, don't TRY to sing in front of TV and 20,000+ people. Sorry you don't understand music. GQ sings well, but you just shouldn't mess with our National Anthem. Quick reply to Mr. Tucker: no talent actresses, etc should not be placed on the field. Leave BeeBop, tongue trills, 'voice tricks' at home!
@jeffrudzinski9 жыл бұрын
CommenTarry "Sorry you don't understand music" are you talking to me personally, or to the people attempting to sing? I graduated from Ohio State in 2008 with a Bachelor of Music degree...and in the case of GQ, three of the girls also have music degrees. Lot of understanding of music to go around my friend..
@frankwhite344410 жыл бұрын
Not an appropriate arrangement for this venue. When you sing for a sporting event, the audience wants to hear the traditional arrangement. Well...everyone in the the audience except your parents.

+Frank White Lame, Frank... Who made you the arbiter of "appropriate arrangements?"
@NelsonClick7 жыл бұрын
I agree. I enjoy GQ and they are wonderful here but the arrangement is too Renaissance/Baroque. It's a madrigal. It's the philosophical incongruity that's throwing me off and that may be what you're hearing too. Music isn't just "is" but a representation of a value or thought system. Same as language and art. Rarely are people cognizant of this; they just know if they like it or dislike it. That's fine. I still like hearing this but it leaves me weird.
@Phil-db1dh3 жыл бұрын
Im sorry girls thats how to murder your National Anthem ! go back to the drawing board and learn about timing and meter and rythm , you are far better than that . Thats not how to sing your Anthem , sing as written ! If you want to hear a great performance of the Anthem key in " Acoustix " quartet and listen to their version ! nuff said !
