It belongs in the same category as LotR, Harry Potter, and Nolan's Batman trilogy, for that reason alone. On top of that, they're some of the most visually and emotionally engaging mainstream movies I've watched in years, carried of course by Serkis' Caesar. I usually don't find big Hollywood productions to be anything more than mediocre, because they insist on cutting out any substance, in favor of mass market appeal. Planet of the Apes managed to appeal to the common movie viewer while still having substance and depth. I feel half of the best perfomance winners in Oscar in the last 10yrs should give their award to Andy Serkis. This man is truly talented and underrated.

With age, Andy came to look like Kenneth Branagh's twin brother. BTW, Andy deserves a greater recogniton. Even putting his performace capture career aside, he's still such a brilliant actor!

If the Oscars had a category for Best Performance in Motion Capture, Andy Serkis would have won it more times than anyone else. LOTR, King Kong 2005, Planet of the Apes! Seriously this man has no bounds and I'm all here for it.

One of the most incredible and influential actors of all time. Also one of my favorites. He's so versatile and has just blown motion capture and performance capture acting out of the water. The fact that they essentially rendered technology just for his Gollum is absolutely insane. Planet of the Apes has now become a favorite movie series of mine and is no longer a joke because of him and the team behind it all is so cool. Thank you Andy Serkis 💕
