Kobe had an interview with Kendrick and flat out said that if rap had NBA comp, Kenny was Mamba. He said he's the only rapper he could see himself in. Mariah&WhitneyLamb Books aren’t the only source of knowledge. Kendrick himself said he rather talk to people instead of reading books. It’s about experience, love it or hate it, mainstream music now is super easy, it doesn’t actually require any effort and that’s why people put too little effort for the money only. That’s why the majority don’t respect them. You see people like Kendrick and you know he has a genuine passion for his craft, he obviously still does it for money, but he put effort to make a good product that will survive the challenge of time and not ear candy that will wear off in a week or so.

It’s funny Kendrick says he’s the biggest kid of them all because you can see it when he talks about music. He gets this twinkle in his eye and this smile on his face like he’s just so happy and full of curiosity just like a kid would be. He has an unmistakable wariness to him that makes you wanna engage with him. Such a layered guy. One of my favorite artists of all time

You can really tell Rubin admires Kendrick's commitment and passion about his music, hip hop culture, and music in general.

lady bug lol don’t start with that astrology. Kdot isn’t real because of when he was born. He’s real because of the environment he grew up in and his parents and mentors. People that have lived through real hardships like him tend to be very real

12:10 that bit right here is so true. I'm actually a big jazz fan, and I always struggled to wrap my mind around rap. It was hearing Kendrick and feeling his connection with jazz and how he informs his music with jazz vocabulary that I was able to establish a connection with rap. Music is so magical at times.

Assuming Kendrick wants a vast amount of people to listen to his message I think he’ll be a freelance motivational speaker. While still having the time to be an artist .

@@COLDGAZES nah i dont think motivational speakers touch on the subjects he cares about unfortunately. that industry is targeted towards people who are just breaking into self improvement and self discovery. kendrick is more of a professor than a loud, marketable public speaker imo

Honestly watching this after the beef u can see how little respect Drake has for the game outside of his own success because Kendrick said all of his points in this interview that ultimately ended Drake I really hope Drake has the space to grow in his adulthood and find his peace as a authentic person his music will grow so much and ALL of hip hop will benefit
