I've seen To Wong Foo many times, I love that movie, and it was so cool to learn a new detail about how Chi Chi's makeup shows her growing more confident in her own skin. I'm going to have to watch it again just to look for that. Great interview. John seems very generous and kind in the way he spoke about his fellow actors, the directors, and everybody else he's worked with in his films.

ChiChi's make-up journey was so fun to hear about, I has assumed her look for most of the movie was due to the lack of foundation and powder options for deeper skin tones in the 90s (see some of Naomi Campbell's runways when it looks like they just slapped a handful of baby powder on her), but knowing the origin of ChiChi's look gave it a whole other level. ❤
