I'm definitely going to be upgrading the pitch stop mount for my GR Corolla. But, more importantly, we need to see more of that wonderful AW11. :)

So I’ve changed mine with the Cusco one. It does have more nvh and the stock motor pitch mount seem to be damaged just like yours.
@jimsgaragetoys7 ай бұрын
From what I've learned the area that appeared torn is actually not torn and designed that way. It's just the extra rubber from the mold when it was made. The RacerX 60a that I installed is still a nice upgrade though so I'm happy as I don't notice any NVH at idle but there is less engine movement when shifting.
@breaks_n_stuff40498 ай бұрын
Why did you go with the racer x opt vs others on the market?
@jimsgaragetoys8 ай бұрын
I was ordering the short shifter and spherical bearings and I knew that I wanted to upgrade the pitch mount at some point. Well, there was a sale and it was less expensive with the deal for all 3 items so I just said why not. Many have said that they are all pretty good products. The ones that are having a problem are ones like this 60A when they are being used in harsh racing conditions on the track when this isn't made for those conditions. If you are going to be on the track you need a much stiffer one. I can see people switching out with a stiffer 85A for the track and then back to a softer 60A/70A for street use since they are easy to remove. The quality of it looks and feels excellent.
@Vaesive7 ай бұрын
@@jimsgaragetoys I picked up the 70A with my order as well; any idea how you'd remove the 60A bushing? I'm hesitant to try and knock it out with a mallet...
@jimsgaragetoys7 ай бұрын
@@Vaesive I would guess that's how you do it with a large socket that clears the center. You can always reach out to RacerX with an email and ask the best way. I emailed him with a question and he replied very quickly.

Do you think there is any risk of wear and tear with the increased vibrations?
@jimsgaragetoys8 ай бұрын
Good question, but won't with the 60A one as I don't notice any additional NVH even at idle. If one were to use a very harsh 85A the additional NVH could lead to even more noise from it causing more vibrations from parts and panels.

Hey Jim, How did you know that you needed to replace it?
@jimsgaragetoys7 ай бұрын
I didn’t, but I knew that it had been reported by others as a good thing to upgrade for shifting quality so I had it on my list of things to do. I was ordering the RacerX short shifter and shifter bushings so it made sense to get this at the same time since I could save even more money with the sale at the time.

I wonder if anyone has 3rd gear grind on the grc , and does this pitch mount fix the problem?
@jimsgaragetoys7 ай бұрын
I don't think that this pitch mount will perform any differently than any of the other brands in the 60A firmness. The question should be, are you getting the gear grind because of a bad pitch mount on your car? If so then maybe this will help. If you drive it pretty hard and/or track it get at least the 70A.

Obviously having a proper lift makes this an easy one. I did this on ramps and took me over an hour! Torquing that one bolt to 150 took some maneuvering laying on my back haha U gonna love those spherical bearings btw. Did those and their short shifter at the same time and what a difference it made.
@jimsgaragetoys8 ай бұрын
I will say I love having a lift. I've worked on cars for many years on jack stands and then under a QuickJack for many years. I can't imagine torquing the big bolts on jack stands though!

Just wondering if this could be changed out without removing the 4 14mm bolts? Especially since that part of mount is not changed, it would just be a matter of removing the 2 22mm bolts only. With that said, I have no idea how much room is under there. Also, it seems there is no need to support the motor, is that correct? Thanks again for another informative diyer video!
@jimsgaragetoys8 ай бұрын
I imagine it could be done that way too but I think that the reason that it's done this way is because it takes the pressure off of that joint and you then tighten up the other bolts. It's just not a big deal to loosen the 14mm bolts. Try it and see and if it's a pain you can always drop the 14mm bolts.
