Recently I was approached by Garage Whifbitz that the GR Yaris ECU is unlocked and can now be tuned. This is what I has been waiting for as it enables you to keep all the OEM controls that going to a aftermarket standalone ECU looses like cruise control etc.
We spent the day on dyne and on the road tuning and logging all different perimeters of the car and even removed the GPF to see what difference it made.
Figures are all wheel horse power at all 4 wheels on a Dynojet 4WD dyno.
We started the day at 232hp and 262ft-lbs
and left with 261hp and 285ft-lbs

In the U.K. they leave with 257 as we have a GPF. Japan etc get 261 as they don’t have a GPF. Also manufactures quote engine dyno figures. These figures are to the wheels / ground so you have transmission and wheel and tyre losses. This dyno also does not guess those losses to give a figure at the fly like some dynos. I might have to take my GR to GW next time I'm visiting an old petrol-head friend in the Brecons. I've been waiting for that ECU to get cracked. Got a Mongoose resonated exhaust, Airtech enclosed case unit, Airtech intercooler and Turbosmart dumpvalve. Yeah I’ve been waiting for it to be cracked so couldn’t wait once I found out! I think the GPF delete helps but it’s not for everyone and some like to keep it and that’s fine. I’d love to go full titanium system to hear the difference. On the Toyota service anxiety, don’t worry. I’ve just took mine in to Toyota the other day for service and look at a rattle. Told them it’s tuned and not to touch the ECU and they were great with it. Came back and it was parked right out front. Had staff and customers looking over it. Had staff come out and say they loved seeing and working on it, the manager even said they had a Ford Mustang in and no one wanted to to work on it as they wanted to work on mine! 😁 The tune normally takes maybe a hour or two, you would have to drop them a message. Mine took all day as we was seeing what worked and what didn’t.

i hate how tq falls off so hard where you have the highest HP. really the only downside for these small motors is the top end.
@FaithlessEmoRacing
@FaithlessEmoRacing 2 жыл бұрын
That was intended in the tune. The reason for it is the torque at high rpm is where you put the most strain on the drive train and can cause the damage. If we didn’t care about the drivetrain and valve springs then we could keep more torque. Also at higher rpm’s it’s the turbo that goes out of its efficiency range and your creating more heat for not a lot more work.

@@FaithlessEmoRacing also the gpf is designed to help the engine function and without it functioning the engine will start to wear out. I'm not making that up.

@@madanto2394 that is not true. The car is sold without a GPF in Japan thus they have more power. It’s not needed for the running of the car at all, and there are no sensors past the GPF so the car doesn’t even know it’s gone.

@@madanto2394 you need to look up what GPF's do. They are not to aid smooth running of the engine.

@@tracktimevideos5164 if the exhaust gases are being recirculated and that stops it will start to wear the engine unless you reprogram stuff from factory.
