@@ToyotaGR86Performance Hi, I am wondering if you know the auto-folding mirror option in Japan could be installed on the US version of GR86? The OEM part from Subaru is as the clip of below. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKnYl5WEr8qKoqMsi=Jduv4OkKybUEVoPa

I noticed that my car doesn’t even have the folding mirror button inside the car as GR86 in Japan.
@ToyotaGR86Performance3 ай бұрын
None of the US spec vehicles have the auto folding. I want this in my car and I have seen videos of people adding it into their cars. This requires completely replacing the side mirrors for ones that have the electronic motor, replacing the door switch for one with the mirror fold button, and doing some custom wiring.

I remember when I replaced the strikers on my FR-S with the stabilizer strikers from TRD in Japan. If there is trouble with getting the screws out, a little heat from a soldering iron helps out massively. Also recommend to add blue Loctite to the screw threads when you install the strikers.

Thanks for the video and perfect timing for me. I just got two packs of these in the mail for my gen5 Prius. (I know it sounds pretty silly to install these on a Prius, but I was ordering and importing another GR part for it and figured what the hell. :)

Something silly and one person’s eyes can be a genius idea for someone else. If you wanted to install these on your Prius, I say good on you. You should never listen to what other people tell you to do in your own life; do whatever you want that makes you happy.

More than likely those factory screws are not PH3 but JIS3, looks like there’s a dot on the fastener head.

Good eye! The dot means it’s the Japanese standard (JIS).

Yes, and possibly the performance damper instead of the strut bar. I’m still deciding between the two but definitely one of them.

Was looking into getting these for myself! Do you feel any differences in the rigidity of the car? I’ll get them either way but wanting to know 😄
@ToyotaGR86Performance3 ай бұрын
I would say it’s a very subtle change if any at all. I am not a professional race car driver to be able to tell such a small difference, but according to the development team, it does make a difference.
@JupiterxBlues3 ай бұрын
Cant speak on this car as I dont have one(considering it) but on miatas a common mod is to replace the door bushings with solid ones and they actually made a small but slightly noticeable difference. But those are convertible so the body flexes more from the start. The most noticeable difference is that the door closes more solid sounding and minimises/eliminates rattles coming from the door. Since sound is vibrations, preventing the door from vibrating will reduce a specific frequency from entering the cabin. Its not a night-and-day difference though. Its just a few small rattles and creaks under specific conditions and each car has more than others of course. But this, combined with few other small mods can make the interior noticeably more quiet, and as a result, it makes the cheap stock miata sound system actually sound decent. Considering that this is a solid roof and a newer car overall, results may differ. But its still a lightweight car so mods like this do help out with making the interior more quiet.
@ToyotaGR86Performance3 ай бұрын
@jrod1577 you are 100% on point. It’s the little things that add up to make a good car into a great car, and that can take a rattly, noisy little vehicle, and make it into something much more pleasurable to drive. This is exactly why I am doing a lot of these small modifications to make this as nice as possible.

What's wrong with the old ones?
@ToyotaGR86Performance3 ай бұрын
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with them, it’s just that some people prefer to have a stiffer chassis. The people that don’t care about a stiff chassis are perfectly fine with the factory ones.

@ToyotaGR86Performance2 ай бұрын
Incorrect installation. I would look at everything and make sure you didn’t install some of the plates backwards. Also make sure that the bolts that are holding the parts are completely screwed all the way down.

Depends on whether or not you think you can install the screw completely. Maybe take the screw and go to a hardware store and see if you can find one that will fit and just replace it.

Because the factory tries to get you the functional vehicle for as cheap as possible. Only 0.01% of all buyers are going to care enough to want to have the door stabilizers. Those people can just buy it and install it themselves. Most people do not care about stuff like this.

It’s all about skirting the line on acceptable for the mass market to buy. I’m sure if they included every single GR performance part on the car from the factory it would be roughly 50,000 from the dealer.
