Oh for heaven's sake... I NEVER thought of clamping my plane in my vise to plane the edges of small pieces. What a great idea! Thanks so much for illustrating what should have been obvious to me earlier. I'm going to use this right away, on my current project which has many fussy, small pieces.

Very nice! What most people dont seem to understand is that this is hand work. People make good looking wood pieces but with a shop full of electric tools. There is a world of difference when using hand tools as this man does. That is craftsmanship. I do the same and appreciate it brother.

Great work, as usual by Yurii. I'm surprised that he cuts the dovetail tails & pins with the wood horizontal, not vertical. I have a MacBook, so I should have a go at making one of these. If mine was 1/2 as good, I'd be happy!!

As a beginner wood worker, I don’t understand how you get away with gluing the breadboard ends solid to the lid. Does the lid not need room to expand and contract for seasonal humidity changes? Love your channel....

Thank you! good question. I glued it this way because the lid is small and thin enough to have the strength to tear the seam, so I decided to glue it completely like this. In April it will be 1 year since I made this product and everything is fine with it, the lid shrank about 0.5 mm and the end strips stick out and the glue did not hold at the ends, so in the end everything went well as expected. But on large and thick countertops, you must definitely do it according to all the rules. Thank you, Regards Yurii.

I've noticed that you still have some of your work in your possession, so this would mean that you're not tied down to doing only commissions. If you don't mind constructive criticism, I believe you'd benefit greatly if you get more symbolic with your work and add as much inlays as possible. Make use of brass, shell, epoxy and all the beautiful inlay materials. Be sure to add your maker's mark on all your projects. Money makes money my friend and if you have any, I believe the Mason's would be glad to have ya. 😉

Nicely made film, nice piece of furniture. However, there are technical shortcomings: the plane must not be placed with the iron pointing downwards, as the sharpness suffers as a result. Do not use a hammer for assembly, as this will cause pressure points. The floor must not be glued in and does not have to be. To set the right angle on the body, do not use a small angle, but measure the diagonals. Is much more accurate. The worst mistake, however, is to glue the entire length of the crests to the flap filling. The wood works about 10 times as hard across the grain, which can lead to cracks or loosening of the strips. The nails in the feet must be countersunk, as the heads can easily scratch the surface. Glued felt would be better.

Poor choice of materials. Wood is too good an insulator to use as a stand for something that gets as hot as a laptop. Don’t get me wrong, it makes for a pretty picture, especially when accompanied by beautiful background music. But as far as design goes, this is an objective fail. A perfect example of “form over function.”

I dare to disagree with you - I did this for my macbook on M1 and it doesn’t heat up at all, I worked all summer on this stand and the fan never turned on! I agree only for old macbooks on intel, it got very hot ...
