What is grace? A heavenly cleansing that takes clothes that were made dirty by their own accord but also by no fault of their own, and brings redemption to them. It is the pre-soak that acts on the stains deeply imbedded in the fibres of our beings that softens the hearts that have grown hard. It is the hands that takes each individual piece of clothing and oh so lovingly and gently, washes it by hand in a powder, the blood of Christ, that restores colour, removes stains and makes that which was discarded shine. It is the fabric softener that permeates our every molecule making us sweet smelling, soft and a pleasure to be seen and our presence felt. It is the hands that hangs us on the lines of life that that we may stand in the light of the Son. It is the winds of the Holy Spirit that blows and drys and moves us from the inside out. And finally when the clothes have been ironed and folded, it is the same Spirit who chooses to dwell in us and wear us despite our past condition When stains and dirt make their way back to us, as will happen in a living life, the process is done all over again without complaint that only recently were you washed, because even though we were bought, we belonged to the Father since before the beginning of time
