I discovered Grace at 18, and when I was walking the streets homeless alone and scared I remember looking up at the moon saying like I always do “hey moon” gazing up at the night sky full of stars in disbelief that this was my life. Started singing this song as I walked down the middle of the road feeling like it was just me and the man in the moon alone on the planet. I felt free, and for a moment not scared. Music like this saves us in moments of hardship. Thanks Grace. ❤

I am so sorry for the loss of your son. I can understand where you are. I lost my youngest son at 42 dealing with PTSD. He had suffered a head injury in a car accident a few months before. There are no answers to the many questions we go through. We pray we cry we ask for messages and some days they come. Insignificant to others, but as their mother we know because our strength comes from within. I agreed to take my son off of life support. It was not an easy decision. But all of his Drs said he is extremely critical, and I knew he would not live his life in a care facility. The day his first born son was born, this song came on the radio and I felt it. So I try to have fun doing chair yoga or just my on thing when I hear it. Gods Blessings to you and we Mothers will always Love our Son’s❤

This such a utterly beautiful song from a underrated singer. This makes me think about my mother who I lost 3 years ago. I miss her so much. This song will forever remind me of her. Yes, I agree, I have tried that before, when I was very depressed about something, and it helped a lot! Thank you! And yes, make sure you do the screaming part when your mum IS NOT in the room! (My Mum heard me screaming and was like, "What is wrong sweetie?!?!") But other than that, the song and the meaning behind it is very AMAZING!

In an interview she said she and her best friend use to lay in the back of a pickup and look at the stars, then her best friend died of an overdose, she wrote this song in dedication to her friend. Now for me, I believe a song, poem, painting speaks to each of us individually. An artist once told me, what the painting meant to him was unimportant, what I see in his painting is what matters. He sold me the painting when I told him what I saw. (that made another person very angry, but he said it was important to him the right person owned his art). This song speaks to me, I hear it for the first time after my husband died. We always loved looking at the night sky. And the night he died it was a beautiful star filled sky that night. I cry but it still makes me feel better, my husband had suffered a long time from his illness so I feel he was set free from all his suffering when his spirit ascended into those starts and the moon onward and upward to heavenly peace.

I'd never heard of this song or Grace Potter until @kreeharrison sang it on American Idol several years ago, and I love her version. Kree did an excellent job with it, and I think of it from time to time and come back to listen to Grace. It's an awesome song.

A few years ago a girl I knew passed away, I didn’t know her too well but she was a friend of mine’s bestfriend. I remember listening to this song and just thinking how unimaginable of pain my friend was in from losing her bestfriend. This past summer my best friend was killed in a car accident...and it really is an unimaginable type of pain.
