My bf loves the Dave Matthews version of this song so I’ve heard that endless times. It’s great to hear Grace Potter sing this. Always love her!

Great song! First time I seen Grace Potter. I was never a big fan of Satriani, but he was superb in this. This is good shit!

The horn player with the asymmetrical embouchure is Willie Waldman. There are clips on YT when he was in Banyan, kind of an improvisational alt-rock band

This was from the Jammy's, a short lived jam band awards show, they had the most killer band mix ups thrown together. they put out a couple of dvd's that had way too little of the amazing music performed at them, I think it only lasted like 3 maybe 4 years.

After looking at Wiki it lasted 7 years, who knew!

I am not sure when, where or how this fantastic group of musicians came together for this performance. So: (not your pants Joe Flow) The song IS about Hernan Cortes. Points Dan. I too enjoyed the close up of Joe's hands during the solo. In particular when he scorches the high E with a note not even on the fretboard. Joe grasps the string between fingers and slides them up making the string shorter than possible using the fretboard. You Get a great view of this as the camera is very close. Points Sifa. I Love Grace's voice as well. Pretty much love everything about her. I'm delighted you enjoyed this performance. TASBEM PF

Millions of Native Americans are dead because of Corez, Columbus, and their ilk. Grace Potter is the effing real deal. Not only all this but she kills it on the Hammond B3 and is a blind telemark skier just because she is a badass Vermont woman.

A lot of great covers of this but it's pretty tough to beat the original Neil Young and Crazy Horse version. Check it out

I really like Neil Young's original version but my favourite version is one by Mike Keneally on youtube. He gives the song the respect it deserves. Not like me but I'm at odds with Dan and Sifa and probably most out there😀. I thought this was dreadful. The song carries a sombre, dark message which was way beyond these goons. It must be an American thing, Chicago-izing a classic song to dumb it down for a middle of the road audience. I like brass but WTF is a trumpet doing in this song! It has no right. Like adding cyanide to a cake. Then you get satch. Technically gifted but, like on here and every album of his I've heard, totally soulless, which I guess is apt for this song. Good surname for her. Like she's from some Harry Potter movie, a demon that sucks the very lifeblood out of things. Going to listen to Neil Young and Mike Keneally's versions to try and remove this shit from my head...A BIG THUMBS DOWN!!!!!!

@@thecat600, I admire your humour. To deliberately pick garbage just to get an accurate reaction from me. Glad I made your day🙂. Should be a good week for you then with my reactions to the Nightwish tart, the plagiarists Chicago and "swamp" Frank and Velvet wasters still to come😀. Bad week for my tastes this week😉

@@paulfenwick8767 well....... I wasn't thinking of you when i picked this performance. I would never waste a selection with music I didn't Love. Your negative reaction was just a bonus. Come on Paul....you must admit..... you have the best rants around....and this one was the best I've seen....In my opinion.
@paulfenwick87672 жыл бұрын
@@thecat600 Love a bit of leg pulling. I do think though that you are like many others on here. You clearly mistake "negative" with "discerning". If by rant you mean expressing my honest opinion, I'll go along with that. One thing I don't do though, with my own selections, is comment on someone else's post unless I agree with it. It's their opinion even if I strongly disagree. I do however take people commenting on my post saying I'm wrong, as fair game/anything goes😉 Keep up the banter Bart, I quite enjoy it😀

Wow, Satriani plays respectfully - and a woman's voice works great for a Neil Young cover. Not crazy about the trumpet though, it doesn't fit .
@davetothebeard2 жыл бұрын
Yer right about the trumpet. But a sax might be cool.
@sootikins2 жыл бұрын
Would be 1000% better without vocals. It's a good repetitive progression to just let all those good instrumentalists solo over. As for Grace "Screecher" Potter I'd rather just hear her play her Hammond.
