What could you have done if you were Lot? Could you have delivered the Angels of God to ungodly mob, or to give out your daughters who were due for marriage? That was a difficult decision and it took the spirit of God to do what happened. This is a lesson to us about an immoral society and we thank God for Lot who was there to narrate to us the details. As a human race, we can totally relate to Lot and his family's plight of letting go of city comfort & convenience. Lot is no different from me or you, however, his questionable choices does give me pause on his mindset in that moment. For instance, sacrificing his two virginal daughters to the the vices of Sodomite men just to save face. Or the lack of urgency to react when the destroying angels gave him ample warning to flee the city. Or him choosing to live in a cave instead of having the unwavering faith to head to the mountains where it would be practical and more "fruitful" & abundant for him & his daughters to thrive. Instead, the trappings of S&G lingered in their hearts & halted their progression to reach their eternal destiny. The same can be true for each of us if we don't repent & act with a willingness to the Lord's invitations to seek Him always.

Sodom and Gomorrah (2 Cities of evil corruption) is the prime example that God will not tolerate evil acts or deeds. The same will happen again. This world’s evil will be destroyed as well. God will deal with the ‘just’ as well as the ‘unjust’. We, as Children of God, should pray for those oppressed in a unjust (corrupt) world. Life for them in this evil world has kept them in bondage.

I think a lot of Christians missed the point of stories like this and say Noah’s flood focusing on “God‘s wrath”. Rather than the plea of a righteous person (and our role to try and save as many people as possible despite themselves). Noah pleads for God to save the people if there are any righteous people as does Lot. We are to let the world follow its own devices (knowing it leads to a town distraction) but our role is to save and help people until the end pushing back on that time all the way.

This was a good teaching but it’s incomplete. If you believe that Sodom and Gomorrah‘s distruction was solely about a certain sexual sin, then you don’t know the Bible. If you believe that Sodom was immoral and evil in God’s sight because of men sleeping with men alone, then you do not know the Bible. Even within this teaching that was presented here there are several clues that show us the truth. Sexual debauchery was very broad. There was bestiality, rape, incest, adultery, fornication among many other sins. How do I know? Because I’ve studied Ezekiel chapter 16 where the Lord rebuke Jerusalem for believing much of what the church believes today, that Sodom was about men sleeping with men. He sent Ezekiel to rebuke Jerusalem and to warn them that they were worse in God’s eyes than the men and women of Sodom and Gomorrah. It was not just men living there, Lot’s daughters learned sexual deviance from having seen other women in that city do such things. If we’re going to cite the Scriptures, then we have to do it completely, accurately and with the ultimate hope that people receive the entire story. Finish this lesson by reading Ezekiel chapter 16 so you too might learn deeper truths that will guide you into a greater relationship with the Lord. You’re not being told the whole story here and that’s why it’s important that you go deeper into the word to receive the greater lessons.
