Sometimes it's not the house you're sad to leave, it's the feelings you're leaving behind. I was older than you when I moved out, mainly because I stayed with my parents to take care of my grandma when she had Alzheimer's. That was 6 years ago and it was hard to leave that home behind because of the memories and the love that I felt while I was there. But moving on is what we all need and it's necessary to start making your own life. But it's a wonderful experience!

The day you moved out of college you wore that same exact outfit. A full circle moment. I wish you the best of luck and praying for all the good things on this new chapter.

Moving out is sad, but at the same time, living in your own apartment is SO nice.

My son is going to be 24 and still lives with me and I’m totally fine with it and I’m sure your parents are so happy to have you with them for so long. Good luck on your adventures with your boyfriend.

trash bag tip! Put the clothes in the bag the other way, then use the bag ties to tie around the base of the hook of the hanger. Then you can reuse the bag since there's no hole :)

There are companies that can use your sweatshirts and t-shirts that are more sentimental and make quilts/blankets for you! I had so many that hold special memories that I couldn’t get rid of, but got made into quilts that you can cuddle under when watching tv or reading! Just a suggestion 😊

Yes!! Thinking of doing this for all of my travel sweatshirts!

Awww, Gracie! I think it says A LOT that you are having these feelings about moving out. This means that your parents have done a great job and you enjoy being there. 😊 I have the same family dynamics. I’m 37 now; married with kids and I still LOVE going back home to visit! Congrats on the move and best of luck to you!!! I enjoy following your journey. ❤

It was a little bit shell shock for me. I lived in a dorm at college but I always came HOME for summer and breaks. It was an adjustment to have my own home, but I love it. I love having my own apartment, my own space. It truly is a big step.

So proud of you! I feel all of those emotions girl - just moved out last year, in the same stage of life as you, just trying to figure it out. It feels so so good to be on my own but yeah…I am grateful to have had the experience with my parents where I am also sad to move out, too! Hugs!!

Never say never! I thought I had moved out for good. After 6 years of living on my own as an adult, at 26 years old, Covid hit and I moved home to restart my life/career. It can happen, but it’s an amazing feeling when you do move out and start on your own!!

Also.. if you bag from the bottom up and use the drawstrings to tie the hangers together at the top.. you contain alll the longer items, and you can reuse the garbage bags..

Gracie, you are truly so beautiful from the heart. You are pure sunshine in human form. You are a very sweet soul who radiates unconditional pure kindness and love. Your endless positivity and smile are so, so extremely contagious. It is so obvious that God has such a purpose for your journey here on Earth. I deeply believe in Earth Angels and I truly believe that you are one of them. I wish you nothing but the absolute best as you enter this new chapter of your story. I am over the moon for you, Gracie. My heart is so giddy for you. May this new chapter pour unconditional laughter, happiest and most magical moments into your life. You are so deserving of the same amount of joy and love that you so freely give to others. I can't wait to see what this new chapter has in store for you, sweet girl. ❤

Maybe with the special items that hold memories for you, you could take a picture of you in them and print them out as art and hang them up. You could then donate them. Just a thought.

In the U.K. it’s super normal for people to live at home until they are in their late 20s because renting is SO EXPENSIVE and it’s impossible to save for a house!

I am 60 years old and I have NEVER* lived on my own. 🎉 I am in awe; CONGRATULATIONS! Would your parents be willingly to rent your room for $500/mo.? 😊 (ha ha!) I am still considering taking out a loan just so I can enjoy that wonderful feeling of My Own Place. * I once lasted 10 days before I was followed home and threatened.

Those bins are going to be heavy af.. As someone who has moved a lot, smaller more strategically packed boxes are better on your back, unless you’re hiring movers and you don’t give a crap.
