Australian here! Loved that you mentioned Bunnings at the end 😂 Bunnings Warehouse is actually a hardware store in Australia and New Zealand. I think I’ve had a weekday Bunnings sausage sandwich. I think...early 2017 was a blur for me. As for Australian fast food, the only one I can think of is Red Rooster, basically a chicken and chip shop. The region where I’m from had a chicken and chip chain (2 or 3 stores across a few very small towns in rural New South Wales) called Chester Chook. Their chicken salad rolls were to die for. Which leads me to what I believe is the non-pie based fast food item, chips and gravy. Every good Aussie fast food place has some interpretation on chips and gravy.

OMG love your conversation about bunnings. Bunnings is a hardware store but on Saturdays and Sundays (only) community groups host sausage sizzles out the front to raise money (often its youth groups or sporting clubs trying to get money for uniforms etc). So traditionally you'd buy a sausage in bread (and get onions on it if you're feeling crazy) with tomato sauce and mustard, and get a can of soft drink all for like $4-5. A lot of people go to Bunnings on a Saturday or Sunday just to get a snag and not to actually buy anything from the store. But Bunnings isn't a fast food place, more of a cultural phenomenon where buying power tools and buying lunch have combined.
