Graco Extend2Fit Strap Tightening Issue Tip

A common review of the Graco Extend2Fit is that the straps are hard to tighten. Here’s a tip of what I do for easier tightening. This seat is installed rear facing.
Children should remain rear facing until at LEAST 2 years old but preferably until 4 years old or when the child reaches the rear facing limits of their seat. The model is 19 months.

I was hesitant to purchase an open box carseat but it came in excellent condition and saved $35. Box was damaged as stated before I purchased it, but the kzbin.infoUgkxIxQe7nPH74g_xtI5NgiE9-zpGNkfgovw car seat looks brand new and I don't think it was ever used. I will update of course if I have any issues with this carseat but I don't think I will. Also it is surprisingly lightweight, the handle feels secure unlike my previous EvenFlo that was gifted to us. Love it !

Thanks for the advice! I was really bummed out and disappointed after I spent so much time and money researching a car seat that would work for us only to have one where I can’t get the harness tight. And it’s not fun when it’s only 15 degrees outside, I’m slipping on ice and my baby is hysterically screaming at me. At least we can use the car seat now... still upset though. This shouldn’t be an issue.

Hi, this tip was super helpful but now we are in the forward facing and seem to be having the issue where I can't get slack or tighten easily. Any tips for forward facing?

I actually reach behind with my hand (forcefully) and pull it. My hand is In between the carseat and the vehicle seat. It's hard but it's the only way I can get it tight enough

There a little button type mechanism by the strap. It’s under and inside the little flap where the strap comes out. Stick your finger in the hole and press it down while pulling up strap to loosen

Thank you for this. Any idea how to loosen the crotch strap/buckle. My daughters legs are getting pinch and I don’t see how to loosen it. Just loosens at the shoulder and body area as you have shown

There is a button you push down right by the strap that sticks out by the crotch buckle to loosen!

Yeah these seats become useless once they're forward facing. It's nearly impossible to get properly tight, I picked up a Diono instead and the harness is smooth as butter and much higher quality.
