What a joke of a car seat and a what a joke of a manual. Graco should be obligiated to pay you for this video simply for the latch strap part. I really can't fathom how they thought people were supposed to just figure that out by themselves. It's like they completely skip that step of how to reroute it, but then they describe the same steps 10x over and over.

I noticed you said 2 OR 22 pounds. Children need to rear face till 2 even if they are already 22 pounds :) Ideally children should rear face till they max out of the rear facing height and weight as long as they are over 2. Very informative and well made video

You are incorrect. Via the doctors office and local fire departments here in Washington state once they are 22lbs and a certain height its recommended to forward face them. My son is 34” tall at 18 months at 28lbs its no longer safe for him to rear face as he could break his pelvic floor if in an accident.

@@laithal-mansuri9003 I am a CPST, you are incorrect. Doctors are almost never up to date with current national highway safety standards. If at all. And not all fire departments are clear on car seat safety either; only CPST’s. There are lots of car seats on the market to accompany children of higher weights and heights; at 18 months a child’s bones are not fused completely. Internal decapitation is at an incredibly high risk for a child that young. When measuring for height put your child’s bottom on the floor and measure his bottom to top of his head for car seat height limits. Graco extend2fit I’d a favorite due to its high rear facing limits of 50 pounds and 49 inches, which even for a 99 percentile child is an average of 5 years old. Never listen to pediatricians for car seat technician related inquiries. And just because it’s a fire station does not mean they’re car seat certified. Also, there is absolutely no evidence that rear facing till you max out the seat limits causes pelvic floor injury? As long as the seat is used within the limits and the crotch buckle is properly placed your child’s pelvic floor will remain comfortable and unharmed. I’d find a new pediatrician ASAP.

@@davidtaylor606 yes sir, keep her rear facing as long as possible. Max out the height and weight limits for rear facing on your carseat. (Weight wise depending on your seat between 40-50 pounds.) :)

Regarding the last part, I believe if your kids weighs more than 40 lbs you have to use car seat belt. If your kid weights less than 40lbs you can use the latch. You cannot use both at the same time.

It would be the minimum of 2 years old and 22 lbs or more, but I believe you can keep them rear facing until the maximum weight limit is met. I waited until my daughter was over 2 years old and over 22 lbs

That is a good question and even my child’s head goes forward when asleep, but all I can say is that it’s not intended to be out of range for safety, so I don’t know the answer.

I followed your steps for facing forward using the latch and it came out perfect. She was getting a little big for backward facing.
