I've found sometimes that outdated scholarship can be useful still for me, especially if there's something about it that's not as relevant anymore/seems wrong. Once or twice, it's helped me figure out what I want to say, reading something that isn't relevant/outdated. Not to say that book will actually turn out helpful (not my field and I don't know the book! haha) but hopefully it will still somehow inform something for you down the line! :)
