Even though it had the unfair advantage of the VRC6 chip over other NES soundtracks, on its own, the soundtrack is extraordinarily well done, and might even be superior to that of its Castlevania counterpart, which is among the best on the NES even without the chip. The overworld themes are particularly outstanding, clever chord progression, and extremely complex counterpoint and harmonic elements give it a touch of eerieness. But what really steals the show for me are the battle themes, absolute drama. One day, I will make a review site for music from the classic era (1985-2000), and this will shine on it.

Incredible soundtrack... one of the very best NES/Famicom has to offer.

this is Konami VRC6 sound chip, very wavetabled-FM like sound, PC can't emulate it 100%.
@Henchgirls7 жыл бұрын
Nope, no wavetable-FM sound in the VRC6. Just two pulse-wave channels, with 8 different pulsewidth settings (from 6.25% to 50%), and a sawtooth-wave channel. Pretty simplistic in that way, yet adds a lot.
I'm ready to listen and listen soundtracks from M.S.M.!

Does anyone know exactly who composed this? Some of the tracks sound like Kinuyo Yamashita and/or Michiru Yamane. Only credits I can find are to Konami Kukeiha Club.

Are you blind lmao it clearly says 1990 on the screen. Mother 2 came out in 1994.

@@werewookMother 2 remixed quite a few tracks from Mother 1 (1989).
@markkoetsier64754 ай бұрын
@@excrono Yeah, but its version of Eight Melodies wasn't one of them. That track is unique to Mother 2. Anyway, I definitely hear some resemblance, but not to the point of either one being a copy of the other. I chalk it up to coincidence.
