In that last question, instead of guessing numbers that give you a value between 90 and -180, cant you solve for k by substituting 90 and -180 into A, which will give you a whole number for k and only use integer values in that range?

No you're wrong. For 2cos(2A - 20) + 1= 0.5 you divided by 2 instead of -2 so cos will be positive not negative
