Grader-Greder Grading the road - Operating Techniques

In this video, we are grading the road it's about 80 m long and 3 - 4 m wide. The reason the grader is going so slow when the asphalt ends is that it has to be deeper than the normal gravel road. The operator doesn't have a GPS guided grader everything is done with feeling.

I am a grader operator, old now. This is a good grader operator alright and a beauty of a machine but I cannot believe how noisy the hydraulic pump is already. That is a newer machine and a beauty. I never had gps at all and used to cut blue tops, that most accurate way to grade.

I agree with you! And this machine is quite old it's a 2006 or 2004 and it has over 1800h

@@TPTimi Yes, but. The machine seems well cared for and all else is well but the pump. I don't know but the pump seems to be failing prematurely. Maybe it is just me but 1800 hours is not an old, machine.

It’s a rebadged champion 740 after Volvo bought them. Don’t they all whine like that, yet keep going? Lol nothing to worry about as long as they don’t get too jumpy

I see it's a 2" drop off from asphalt, that's normal. He's going slow off the drop, that's good. Also listening to HYD and they are struggling to cut. If it's a cut, cut it and take it down. If it's a fill, fill it. You don't have GPS on there but I can tell they have slope control. Small areas like just piss a guy off too. I can see when he backs up he starts going a bit fast every time. That means he is getting pissed off for a particular reason. Most likely by some asshole on the 2 way telling him what he needs to do when he isn't even ready for that step yet.

This operator is definitely paid by the hour or hasn't found the other forward gears.

This guy needs to get on with the program. Costing the Co. way to much money in labor. That thing was made to move material way quicker than he is.

Nothing worse then having spectators, a possible transition to deal with and assholes who are in the way all the time!
