So this is the second and last video I recorded the blade tell me if you want to see more from this angle!
We were grading different here the hights of the gravel aren't correct because they only used wooden sticks and those wooden sticks are right there where the grader drives(and other vehicles). So this method isn't the one we use so everything behind the grader isn't the right hight when the roller comes. Don't know why did they want us to do this way. Also, they were it a big rush we usually don't even operate in winter.

He is spreading base to final grade. That is what the red wood stakes are for.

@@briangardiner1015 You're right, but I kinda meant that it would be nice to get some commentary from Tim's Dad and his point of view as the operator doing the job. Tips or tricks on how he reaches grade and keeps from ripping the hub/grade stakes. I'm watch because I hope to pick up Tips on how to improve my Operating technique. Cheers Adrian. 😉

@@adriannettlefold9084 That is the hard part about hubs/stakes. I have seen many grader operators and the good ones have the feel of where the cutting edge is compared to the stakes. I don't know where you are but here in the US they will get within a tenth or two then put in the hubs, then fine grade to those. Here they will also attach whiskers to the top of the hub so they don't need a chaser to find the hub after each pass.

@@briangardiner1015 I'm in central Queensland Australia. I'm a Train Driver with Queensland Rail in Emerald and I have started Operating machinery as a second job. If you take a look at my chanel you will get a bit of an idea. I admire anyone who can grade using string lines or hubs and feathers. Most big outfits here use GPS and Lazer, which I know nothing about. Blade Pro 2D Lazer equipment was what was used when I was A plant operator in the 1990's before Joining the railway. I am kinda caught in a time warp trying to up-skill and teach myself. I need a mentor.
